Boucher said both Gagne and Kubina went back to the team hotel, will be re-evaluated tomorrow

Here's hoping that Gagne's not finished for the season. Same with Kubby we need that big body.

Is there any doubt that Gagne's injury is noggin related? If he didn't get concussed, he got something awfully close to it.

It appears to be an optional skate for both the Caps and Lightning today. Gagne and Kubina are not on the ice. Neither are Brewer, Thompson, Tyrell and Hall.

This is where depth helps. R. Jones and Tyrell can fill the holes.

Just to wrap up the Gagne/Kubina concerns for today. Highly unlikely either will play in Game 2. Randy Jones pretty clear he is in on D.

Blair Jones in for Gagne. Randy Jones in for Kubina. Tyrell not an option, Boucher said, with left foot injury.

LightningTimes Damian Cristodero
Gagne says he never lost consciousness after falling to ice in Game 1. Reecalls whole incident. Doesn't blame Hannan. Wants to play Game 3.

erlendssontrib Erik Erlendsson
That's certainly how I read the situation! RT @nathcartmel does that mean that kubina is the worse of the 2?

He looked out to me. Clenched hands, eyes closed, no movement...

Me too. At any rate, he wasn't/wouldn't be out for very long, which might explain how he doesn't 'remember' being unconscious.

If I can read too much into something - Gagne remembers the entire incident, meaning he was still with it up to the point where his head hit the ice. So...the unnecessary shove down by Hannan was the culprit.

Any speculation on whether or not Gagne will be back for Round 3?

I kind of doubt it, not with a concussion.

Oh really? I recall reading he was going to be back after only a couple games. I figured with the break he'd be back for sure. Latest news is he's not improving any? I can't find any official word on it one way or another anywhere.

Thats assuming he has another concussion. Pretty big assumption, while not unfounded, I dont think its safe to say thats the case.

Kubina on the other hand... he looked way out of it.

Any word on R. Jones after he limped off last night? I don't remember there being an update during the postgame stuff last night.

So.... 50/50 chance?

I'm thinking of picking him up for my hockey pool so trying to weigh the risks.

Anybody?

Is there a beat writer for TB where I can check his blog or twitter for injury updates perhaps? I guess I'm spoiled with over information here in a Canadian hockey market. Or perhaps a different Lightning forum that is more active where they might know?

There's been no update on Gagne other than he was out for game four and was day to day after that. No one outside of the team knows if/when he's going to be back. There probably won't be any updates until we get closer to game one of the next series.

It'd prob be safe to assume they're not coming back.
