Jaromir Jagr to Montreal?

I know it's outlandish, unlikely, and, probably, silly, but it's just nice to have a rumor of some sort to discuss. Anyways, from isport.blesk.cz, comes the rumor that the Montreal Canadiens have an interest in Jagr and Jagr believes he could return to the NHL, as well.

For a hilariously bad translation (My favourite line: "Diary of Sports has learned that the famous Canadian Club has expressed interest in catching a renowned veteran. Surprising courtship fall? The attacker actually thinking about it!"), but at least you can get the jist of it, click the link.

He would be a good fit on the Habs, his game really fits their style of play. I'm not sure this will happen though because isn't Kovalev going to resign in Montreal to retire with the Canadiens? I also think Jagr would be a great fit on the Pens. He would come cheap and compliment the other players on that team really well.

Jags being Jags.

I suspect he's back in the KHL next year making bank. I hope I'm wrong and I get to see him play (for the Pens, damnit!) one more time in the NHL.

I don't think the Habs want Kovalev back.

Why would he go to Montreal? If he were to come back I would think he would go to a franchise he has connections with.

Habs have a lot of Czech players and he's played with Plekanec in international tournaments and well...Gomez.

Very interesting.

I could see the Habs and him agreeing to a 1 year deal worth $1.5-$2.5M

"I was excited when I heard that Edmonton pushed pretty hard to get me and I really appreciate it. And if I ever go there [the NHL], they would be my No. 1 pick because they showed me the interest first," Jagr said.

2 years old now but hey

He'll sign in Pittsburgh for 1 million. Play 2 games then announce retirement.

Did anyone watch Jagr in the 2010 Olympics? He's done.

Also your team is the 9th oldest team.
As someone who cheers for the sens I wouldn't wan't to get in a best fans argument, seeing as how we take over your home games.

Really, this isn't even up for debate, there's no better team to play for than the Habs when things roll our way.

He looked really good in the Olympics. He got hurt by the Ovechkin hit, but still was decent after that. If he goes to a team where he can act as a second line threat, he'll still be great. I'd love to have him on the Canucks working with Kesler. If he's willing to take a value contract, any team would love to have him.

The Hockey News did an article in 2009 about Jaromir Jagr saying he can see himself putting on an Edmonton Jersey. Now at age 39 does anyone see him playing in the NHL.

I think it is very likely he would play in PIT if they offer him a contract.

Gomez and Jagr didn't play well together. It was the reason Gomez was moved to the second line.

I think he would most likely go to Pittsburgh at around 1-1.5 million for 1 year. Or maybe he would do a hometown discount for 500k?..

He also said in an interview that if Mario called him, he'd play in Pittsburgh for the league minimum. Now, was he full of it, or did Mario never call?

If Mario called him, he'd be here already. That was just Jags being Jags.

I really would love to see him here for a year or two to finish his career, but I don't see it happening. Maybe a one day signing like Barrasso, but that's it.

Kovalev would probably want to come back to Montreal, but I don't see Montreal having much interest in having him back. The real value of Kovalev is on the power play and the Habs already have his role there covered by Cammalleri while he isn't a strong enough skater or defensively reliable enough to fit Montreal's system.
