Why not talk on the CBJ board or put in an offer in the Trades Section?

While I like Methot, trading McMillan just opens up another hole for us really

Couple months back, I was pretty disappointed to see Jerred Smithson re-sign with Nashville. I think he would've been the type a player I feel that the Ducks are going to need next season. Center who plays physical, is smart in the defensive zone, and most importantly someone who would do well in faceoffs.

So guys I would like Ducks to try and sign from the free agency are Boyd Gordon and Eric Belanger. They fit the description, and I think Murray should really focus on improving the center position. Right now there is no depth whatsoever.

+1. Faceoffs. I'm looking for a center who wins faceoffs and plays the PK.

Hopefully those expectations aren't too high.

As for Methot, I'll add to be more discussiony and less snarky. I think Methot is a 4/5. Different style, but essentially Sutton in terms of quality. Methot continuing to play that level (a little better than he has in the past) is roughly equivalent to Sutton if he bounces back. I'm not sure what types of things Columbus would want. Probably more "now" than "future" assets.

So my stab in the dark is Sutton + prospect for Methot. Prospect would probably be B/C level and near NHL-ready, like say Sexton, McMillan, Beleskey. In essence the 2 teams would be gambling on Sutton returning/not returning to form and Methot improving/staying the same/regressing to his previous form. Anaheim would need to add a prospect because because of age/contract/and it seems more likely Sutton does not return to form compared to Methot.

Oh, and Descartes sez: methot therefore mewas.

Maybe we can drag Lindros and Leclair out of retirement while we're at it.

I agree with faceoffs and I want to recreate a checking line from the 06-07. I would start off with Zenon Koneka at center. Then maybe get one more guy to put with McMillan like a Joel Ward to plug in with them.

Joel Ward is going to cost too much for what he is after his great playoffs. He'll be overpaid like Ruslan Fedotenko and Fernando Pisani before him.

So if the cap actually goes up to 63.5M, how high do you think the Ducks will spend? Still only 55-57M?

Maybe we can get a bump to 58M at most I'd wager...depends I guess if Bob has a solid trade or UFA acquisition that he can convince the owners will make them a 100% serious contender this season.

assuming selanne comes back.. and a healthy hiller..

we CAN imo be a contender if the samueli's feel like spending.. we only need 1 top 4-D and maybe 1 or 2 bottom 6'ers to be a legit contending team imo..

if we signed bieksa we'd have
lubo-lyd
bieksa-fowler
sbisa-beach..
personally i think that is a top 10 d-core... fowler was amazing in the post season..

then we just improve our bottom 6 and we'd have depending on who he adds the 2 scoring lines + shutdown or the 3 scoring lines..

Cap - 10%. What it's always been.

Which is probably quite generous. We should probably be a midpoint team or possibly even less. Our attendance was 26th in the league last season and 24th in the league the year before. It was 24th and 20th if you go by % capacity, but tickets is probably more accurate because it's more directly tied to revenue.
