Took the company seats to the ballgame on Sunday. Got there early, hung out in the Diamond Club. Great weather, great seats, early Nationals lead, win. Just a really good time.

They need to be in the top 2 in this draft, it's pretty sad after that.

The bullets winning last year was far more important. This draft is pretty craptastic as far as franchise players but I'm sure they will be some decent pros in this draft. Williams would be my first pick after that don't have preference though just say no to drafting any of those white euro dudes or those PGs (naturally). Biyombo and Kanter are intriguing but after that maybe kawhi leonard or burks. I think I saw that the last time a 4th slot won the lottery was back in 87, doh.

@Drake: sounds like a fantastic night out!

In terms of the draft lottery, there really isn't a franchise player out there this year. Perhaps Irving, but he doesn't have near the physical tools that some of the point guards taken early in the last few drafts possess (Wall, Westbrook, Rose, Evans etc), but some project him to be a poor man's Chris Paul (meaning light on athletic tools, heavy on skill and cerebral ability), which would obviously be a very nice player. The Wiz would probably end up either moving the pick or passing on him if he was still on the board at the time that they select (Wizards would have to have a top two selection most likely for either scenario to occur.)

To me, D. Williams is a nice player and would be a solid addition, but I don't see him developing into anything more than the third best player on a legitimate contender anyway (ala Luol Deng), so I won't be leaping out of any windows if we miss out on the opportunity to pick him.

After those two, and perhaps Kanter, there is a cluster of players with relatively the same upside, so no matter what happens tonight, the Wiz are looking at acquiring at minimum a very serviceable player.

Baring the wiz getting a top 2 pick there really isn't all that much there. I'm guessing they'll trade their pick for a rebounding forward. I'm interested to see what the makeup of the roster will be next season with all the cap room they have....and who they might target in free agency. Crawford and wall in the back court is a great start with mcgee and blatche

FYI for anyone thinking about hitting a nats game....just do a little searching before buying your tickets online because there is usually a discount code that gives you 40-50% off the face value out there.

I love the Wizards new jerseys. I also love both new logos; the dc hand logo that harkens back to its bullets predecessor, and the basketball with the monument imposed in it. Leonsis, the designers and everyone who had a hand in the creative process did a fantastic job with the rebranding.

Yes, now we can get a role player that can come off the bench in 3 or 4 years. Lol. I hope we get a Euro player just to piss off the biggots.

Ehhh with the 6th, 18th and 34th picks....I think the wizards should manage to find someone pretty darn good....maybe they'll take a flyer on an unknown European or south American.....Ted puts a lot of money into scouting with the caps. I can't imagine why he wouldn't do the same with the wiz.

Washington

Kawhi Leonard

Position: SF
Height: 6-7
Weight: 225
Age: 19
School: San Diego State

Analysis: The Wizards changed their uniforms, and by taking Leonard, they can begin to change their image as a soft, defenseless team. Projecting Leonard this high may be a stretch for some, but looking at who's available and what the Wizards need, he's a really good fit.

Leonard can guard multiple positions, would fill a hole at the 3, plays with a motor and toughness that the Wizards often lack and has enormous upside if he continues to improve his jump shot (he was shooting the lights out in Vegas workouts). The comps to Gerald Wallace don't seem out of order, and if his jumper truly improves, he has a chance to be really special. Pairing him with John Wall could be the start of something in Washington.

How would you feel about the Wiz trading up to 4 with the 6th pick and next years first to get Kanter?

Cleveland wins it with the Clippers' unprotected 1st?

As a fan of neither team, I'd have rather the Clippers gotten it. I love me some Blake Griffen highlights, so anything that would produce more of those is what I want. Get him a top flight point guard and the sky's the limit.

It is funny how Cleveland got the Lebron Pick back in 03 as it seemed to perfect at the time. Now 8 years later the Cavs are slighted by Lebron and the Cavs end up with the not only the first pick but the fourth pick as well with a lottery pick that was slated 8th or 9th higher.

I mean you always hear the analyst talking about how difficult it is to get the number 1 pick vs the field when you have that 25% lottery pick but somehow the Cavs have managed to pull it off twice.

Not really into conspiracy theories but the Cavs timing with these lottery winnings does seem fishy.

INVESTIGATE 2003 & 2011 NBA DRAFT LOTTERY! Lol.

Worst draft since 2000. Trade the thing.

#20 next year will be as good as #6 this year.

Very true. I've been monitoring the mock drafts mostly through ESPN's mock draft machine and it was like at one point a top 5 player was staying in school every week. Perry Jones stays, Jared Sullinger, Harrison Barnes, Terrance Jones. At least 4 of the top 6 guys returned to school. We might as well be picking 10th.

I'd trade up for williams..blatch/young/mcgee (any one or two) and a 2013 1st. Kanter still has some question marks...hell they are evaluating him on essentially just one game. Its a gamble.

Exactly. I was watching that, whats his name? Dirk Novweitchki? And he was terrible tonight. I most definitely don't want a player like that.

Well we were able to get someone stupid enough to bite on Gilbert so maybe we can convince someone in the top 4 to take Blatch. Among others Minnesota is looking to trade that number 2 pick, but as NBTheWiz said, this could easily be the worst class since 2000. We might be better off trading our first for a lottery first next year if we can get it.

Yep. And when you consider the fact that there will be another half-dozen guys that will emerge as top-ten talents, either as college freshmen or Williams-type blowing up later, you gotta think that there will be 8-10 guys in next year's draft that are better than this draft's #3, at least. Plus, I'm sure there will be a Euro or two worthy of selection.

Also, to put this class in perspective, compare the top 2 guys to the John Wall draft. I have a hard time thinking either Irving or Williams even goes in the top 5 in 2010.

In short, do everything you can to trade the #6 for a first next year.

With 18, I'd probably take Singleton, Faried, or Marshon Brooks, in that order. Then with the 2nd, I'd probably go with a high-upside Euro to stash (someone like Bertans or Bogdanovic).

I think it's inevitable that the Wizards end up with Jordan Williams somehow.
