Thoughts on the biggest free agent signing

NYDNRangers Pat Leonard
Henrik Lundqvist on starting just three of the last six games: "I must say my body feels great." #NYR

I don't even care when he pulls his trademark stinker every 3rd game.

He will be a major priority to re-sign. To this day I still don't know how the Rangers were able to sign him so quickly as a backup when he could have surely started elsewhere!

He reminds me of Richter,s and Giacomin,s backups in quality. Healy and Villemure always were there to let the stud get some rest just like Biron.

I really can't think of a game where where he was used and we lost because of him like Valiquette and so many others..

We are spoiled because of Lundqvist and we expect similar results from our backups.. Biron is the only one when we have actually got them results pretty frequently.

I'm sure NYC has a part in that. If this was the same exact team, but in some other town like Dallas, Ottawa, or Nassau County, he would have been more willing to test the waters.

Rangers made him a good offer as soon as FA opened and he didn't really want to move his family.

Actually, the Rangers made him a good offer before UFA opened. If you recall, the Islanders, in a very classy move because they had no intention of re-signing him, allowed Biron's agent to negotiate with teams before July 1st. That's why the Rangers announced the signing at like 12:00:01 on July 1st.

At first I though this was about Richards. But Biron deserves his own thread. I hope to hear about his resigning by the trade deadline. The ideal backup.

This. Islanders let him negotiate with us. Biron really loves the NYC area it seems. Hope we can keep him.

What's wrong with Nassau County? It's beautiful here.

Biron is awesome!!

Also, kudos the Rangers organization for recognizing the trends and making sure that Lundqvist doesn't play too much. There are plenty of organizations who have been behind the curve on this one in the past. They tried it last year, but had some bad luck towards the end of the season. Hopefully, this year turns out better.

As a Nassau County native, I agree.

Anyway, yeah, Biron is awesome.

This year we're seeing the benefit of having Marty.

Hank's stats are nuts, and even then he's played more games than the Rask's and Thomas' of the league.
