Yeah I was in a hotel and had Star Trek on the iphone while playing Civ5 on the computer. Company paid beer in the icebucket and chicken quesadilla on the bed. It wasn't that bad and useful if you're at a hotspot. I can see me using that when the girls get older and we're shopping for clothes in the mall.

Hand them a fund limit debit card and sit in the food court watching south park season 25.

the first two books are pretty damn solid. third is decent. fourth is... wandering.

but yeah, i'm pretty impressed by how well they've translated it to the screen. not surprising, given it's hbo, but other than some minor quibbles, it's good.

My girl started reading the first book after episode one and now she's hooked and fills me in on parts of the backstory they don't fully explain, which helps. But as just a stand alone show...I think its working really well.

I was happy to see some Tommy Carcetti this last episode as well.

snow's getting butcher by the episode. first episode, he was way too dainty/pretty/clean. now he's starting to look like he should look. and act like it too.

arya's casting is f'ing inspired. that girl's perfect.

Yep...agree totally...the casting really is excellent....

It's funny to hear some of the exact phrases right from the book "stick em with the pointy end"....

easily the most intricate, complex, and dynamic character of any series. ever.

it makes sense that each episode is better - they have less setup / backstory to focus on and instead focus on the visceral moment at hand...

on a side note, i love Dinklage as Tyrion.

Another horrible caps season plus a horrible week at work is all cured with a trip to Tim Horton's this morning.

Breakfast of champions.

Listening to Mike Wise attempt to talk hockey on The Fan is goddamned excruciating. I wanted to punch my car's speakers this morning.

"I think NHL teams should announce what players are injured, and how! Then...it's like saying 'we're injured, but we'll beat you anyways!"

No, jackass, then it's like "Hi OV, I'm Steve Downie. I heard you have knee problems. Excuse me while I lean into that part and break it...and...done."

He seems to think that hockey is the same thing as NBA basketball, and that the worst that will happen is an elbow to the chest or a slap to the wrist.

Does look good. I hope its based on one of the great Robert E Howard stories like Beyond the Black River, the Black Stranger, or the best Conan story ever written, Red Nails (if you guys havent read a Conan story before do yourself a favor and read Red Nails -- you'll be blown away. To think it was written in the 1930s!)

Never read it. Never watched it. Have no idea what it's about. But you nerds are always posting about it, so I thought you'd enjoy:

I guess that the fact that I found a couple of significant omissions from that graphic means I get to keep my nerd card?
