J.P. Dumont to anyone?

Dumont has been in Trotz's doghouse for whatever reasons for over a year now. He's burried on the 4th line and now sitting in the pressbox for probably the rest of the playoffs.

He is not the same player he was a couple of years ago, but still shows flashes of offensive production and is an experienced playmaker. I know he could be an asset somewhere else and would probably be willing to waive his NMC in order to get more ice time and be used in a more fitting role. The only problem is he is getting paid a good amount with not much to show for it, $4M for the last year of his contract. I think he could get back to his 20 goal season form with the right system and coach willing to use him.

Anyone willing to give him a shot and what do you think the Preds get in return?

2010-2011- 70 GP, 10 G, 9 A, 19 PTS (Playoffs) 2 GP, 0G, 1A, 1PTS
2009-2010- 74 GP, 17 G, 28A, 45 PTS (Playoffs) 6 GP, 2G, 2A, 4PTS
2008-2009- 82 GP, 16 G, 49A, 65 PTS, Led team in assists and points

Boyes had 1 year left on his deal worth 4mil and he got a 2nd rounder so maybe something around there. Not even getting ice time might hinder the return even more, but I don't really know much about Dumont's value. Just throwing that out there.

I think the Predators gain the most just by getting rid of his salary. With Weber due for his big contract and Suter and Rinne following shortly behind our cash strapped team needs to free up some money. I'm not good at projecting values at all, but I would think that picks would benefit Nashville the most.

Boyes Got a 2round but at That Time He put 41point in 60 something games hile dumont put 19point in 70 games ! Plus Boyes is 28 years old while Dumont is 33 ! And everybody knows That at the deadline price is higher !! So dumont doesn't worth more than a 4 round !! Due too the cap situation I wouldn't be surprise that Nashville put dumont on waiver (it sad to say but it a fact if they want to resign there franchise player )

One of Ellis or Franson or Josi + Dumont for one of Torontos first this year or their second ( depending on who comes with dumont.

So we trade one of our top prospects for a low 1st, who won't even have an effect on the team for another 3-7 years if he impacts the team at all, just so we can dump Dumont? NO.

I'll swap you Chris Drury for him. Next year Drury gets 5m. JPD gets 4m.

A scouting report on the guy would help alot. What happened to his play that he went from a constant 20 goal threat to a benchwarmer? He wasn't always the most motivated guy, and I dont remember him as being particularly fast. Did he get too slow and lazy for the coach? Did age just catch up to him sooner than most guys?

He was always good with the puck, and not a puck-hog at all. I don't see how this guy got only 9 assists in a whoping 70 games. Poor linemates maybe, but any time I saw him he looked good enough to get 9 assists by bouncing the puck off his linemates shinns.

Lots of teams could use a scoring threat, if Dumont can still be one. But where is his game at?

He was on the wrong end of an Alexander Burrows hit a few years back and hasn't been the same since. Went from 60-70pts. to benchwarmer like that.

True, Nashville needs help on the back-end. Looking shaky there.

I'd do both, but I prefer the first one. Well done.

One of the dumbest moves the Sabres ever did was letting Dumont walk while re-signing Kotalik in 2006.

Man, that's gotta be depressing. Nashville didn't look too bad up front when Dumont was still that guy. Him, Erat, Legwand were some underrated scorers. I didn't realize how far Dumont had fallen, though.

Dumont for Kuba is a deal I have heard before.
