If Lou really likes Murphy, I still think we can trade down and get him. But I wouldn't be totally opposed to Lou taking him at 4 either.

Definitely, even with last year's Draft, you're going to have somebody like Fowler (and possibly even Merrill) that will consistently outpoint Gudbranson.

At this point, I'll be pretty excited to see Lou pick one of Larsson, Huberdeau, Landeskog, Couturier, or Murphy. I think the only way I'm disappointed with this draft is if Lou does something crazy, so I'm not that worried.

Although, way back on the first page, someone (Saugus maybe?) said Huberdeau reminded him of Joe Nieuwendyk, and that pretty much instantly sold me on him. But the next few pages sold me on everyone else. Now I'm just happy.

o hai guyz

and lol I agree with DATW. Posters on here say stuff and get trashed for it but the second an outside source comes out, credible or not, they instantly jump on the bandwagon.

No wonder people use propoganda

This is a good point. The shove down your throat method doesn't sit well with most.

Yes, that was me. Huberdeau's closest comparison to Devils centres past is Nieuwendyk. I wouldn't say that means he'll be as successful, but their playing styles and capabilities are similar.

Couturier was and remains my first choice since early in the season.

I'd even take him over Larsson if both of them are somehow available at 4.

Franchise forwards come around frequently. Franchise D-men do not.

Larsson should be the 1st overall pick, IMO, but I don't think the Oilers will go that route. With Florida expected to take a forward, the possibility of taking Larsson solely rests on whether the Avs want to replace Stewart with Skog or compliment EJ with Larsson.

Maybe Lou turns heads and trades up with Colorado. Who knows at this point. Everything's a possibility.

I wanted Larsson since last year to be honest, the WJC last year I believe it was. I figured we would have to pull a boston and get a rando 1st in order for us to get him. The team said otherwise...

I support Murphy and I wouldn't say I shoved it down anyone's throat. I tried to present all his upsides and state how he probably has the most talent in the draft. All I got back were his single flaw which is his size. Then after an article comes out and says you shouldn't focus on what a player doesn't have but instead focus on what he does have, now more people are on board. I agree sometimes the wording of something helps people agree with something more. It is quite clear that Murphy has qualities that are rarely found in a defenseman. Hell I've read in various places that he is talent that comes around every 10 years or so. When I hear stuff like that I want us to pick Murphy. That isn't saying that other players in this draft aren't special too. I believe Larsson/RNH/Murphy/Landeskog/Huberdeau are special players. This doesn't change the fact that I would rather have Larsson though. Larsson is everything you want in a franchise defenseman. While Murphy is amazing, he will have to do some work on his defensive game to become a franchise defenseman.

The more and more I think about it, the more I want to make my rankings:
Larsson
Murphy
Landeskog
Huberdeau
Couturier

I only take Smurphy if Lando or Larsson are gone.

I'm going to send lou a letter in the mail and ask him what hit top 7 look like. That should clear things up

I'm not saying Larsson is bad its just we could probably get a solid defenseman in next years draft.

We rarely pick this high so it could be our only chance to get an elite center prospect.

Though if Couturier is off the board Larsson is my first choice no doubt.

I'd laugh so hard if you actually sent him a letter asking. Of course, the only reply you'd get would be "Status Quo", but it would still be funny.

I feel like I'm starting to rank them in terms of how rare of a player they are. Combining how rare it is to even find players like like them, what is the chance that we will even have another opportunity to pick a player like them in the draft again? We will most likely go back to picking in the 20's for a while again. I think we should try to land the rarest talent to find.

Well Larsson is being compared to Lidstrom, so I'd say that's a pretty rare talent.
