OK boys, believe. Tampa is a 6 straight winner. We can muster at least 3 wins in a row, we are good enough if Bruce grows a brain and makes the adjustments needed.
Let's go Caps, show us that you are not quitters. Go out there and have some fun and show them that why you are #1 in the East.
I expect to be sitting in my seat for game 7, I believe.
his record of coming in after replacing other goalie in the playoffs is pretty good
i dont have a dog in the fight. i like all three goalies. however, we all know that varly's playoff history starts in game 2 series 1 both years. in each case he has played a game inside a week of getting into his first playoff game. his last game this year was april 6. a month ago.
his history in first games back after missing that kind of time is that he's rusty and his timing is off.
if you think he is likely to throw out a dominating performance after not seeing game action in a month, i dont share that opinion.
in a scenario where one bad goal could be the end of the road, i trust that neuvirth is more ready to prevent that than varly. but thats just my opinion.
Neuvirth's had his chance and he has been good, but nothing special. We need a miracle, Neuvirth is probably going to be tense and pressurized. Varly will just go in there and play loose knowing that there is not much to lose. If he can, he can get his place secure for next year, so he'll go in there and play the game of his life i feel.
I have no faith in Nuevy in net. I'd prefer holtby over him.
I feel that Nuevy will go in there and get pulled early after being extremely nervous as a rookie in such a situation. Varly has faced 3 game sevens.

I can see that you have no faith in Neuvirth, but the idea that Neuvirth has to be shakey and cracking under the pressure while Varly who hasnt played in a month will step into an elimination game feeling loosy goosy is nothing more than you projecting your personal hopes on the men involved.
Since you dont know these two guys and havent been around them the last couple of days you wouldnt know that its just as likely that the two goalies feel just the opposite.

Varly has the most raw talent. In a situation like this, we need to throw a hail mary and make a bet on the stronger horse. Varly is a man who must have his pride hurt, being superseded by Neuvy. I'm sure he will come out with everything to prove. We need to get in their heads. A new goalie who starts to get hot could do that. Neuvy has lost his trump card.
Knowing Bruce, Neuvy will start. I expect Neuvy to give up a couple of softies and be replaced early. The bolts have him solved.
I heard on 980 that its Neuvy for sure, and thats good to hear. The kid has done nothing wrong to warrent a demotion. The true hail mary would be to either demote Nicky or bench him out right. Thats isn't going to happen so we'll just have to see.

First off, you can't spell his name. It's Neuvy. Second, if you think goaltending is the problem then you're missing the bigger picture on an epic scale. Neuvirth was a Smythe favorite after Rd. 1 and has been the only reason they've been in some of these games.
This team has reverted to it's old ways of running around scared leaving their goalie out to dry on odd-man rushes and turnovers. It doesn't matter who they put it.
As was already discussed, I firmly believe the Caps will win the next three games only to lose in OT of game 7. I would rather they just roll over and die than put me through another week of heatache, but we'll certainly see how much fight is left in the dog tonight.

Hoping for a really exciting game. Otherwise I'm gonna fall asleep very quickly. Think I've got about 9-10hr of sleep in the last three nights altogether. but hey, I have sent in my thesis today and it's time to turn this mother****er around!
