Neuvirth 0-3. Ignoring Varly and Holtby?

It seems like the easiest thing a coach could do. A no brainer. I dont like it. Nothing against Neuvy. This one is against Bruce. Lets see who is right. Good luck Michal, its not going to be easy.

A playoff coach cant wait for 4 losses in a row to make a goalie change. Maybe we see a quick hook tonight.

agree 100% i thought the change should have been made last game. Not bc neuvy is playing bad but a goalie change is a wake up call and might have giving the boys a kick in the ass.

Just want to get this in: this boy's not getting off the bandwagon until mathematical elimination. The '04 Sox give me hope, and this team is good! Do it! Do it!

For the record I'm totally disheartened and I almost don't want to watch. But I will anyway.

1. Attack the zone with more speed. We are playing into their hands by approaching the blue line too tentatively. I don't just mean the puck carrier but also the wingers.
2. More passes just before the puck carrier enters the zone. Once he crosses his options are limited against the Bolts' defense. Could be a pass to the wing (because the defender is shaded toward the puck carrier) or to a guy crossing behind him. Guys need to be paying close attention so as not to go offsides.
3. Crashing the net after a pass from the corner. I think one of the reasons we are not seeing more guys crash the net is a fear of a quick counter attack. The player who crosses the puck needs to be prepared to get back on D. They also have to be on the same page as to when the puck will be sent across. We have had plenty of opportunities to do this but need to be prepared.
4. Fake some dump ins. TB expects dump ins and is pretty much backskating the moment our guy winds his stick. Fake it occasionally, give them something to think about.
5. Fake some shots from the point. That is one of Green's strong suits and underutilized in my opinion. Fake the shot, and if the defender slides, go around him for a better shot or pass.

I like where you are going with this. I have not seen any adjustments - the Caps are in every game and can win this.

I said to a colleague of mine before the series that lessons should have been learned from the Pittsburgh series. I think the way to beat the 1-3-1 is to use a ball hockey style entry. If you've ever seen ball hockey at the highest levels most teams play a 1-3-1 and the opposition gets their forwards to straddle the blue and with the line gained you quickly dish to a support forward. The one difference in ball hockey is the floating blueline but i think the ball hockey entry could work as part of a diversified entry strategy. Don't do the same thing all game.

Go Caps - I'll puke if I see this 1-3-1 **** in the finals. Every damn minor hockey team in Canada will be using it too. I hope they get pounded starting tonight. To hell with Guy Boucher.

I like your fake dump and fake shot ideas.

I can see why Bruce left Neuvy in if he wanted firewagon hockey early. They are getting lots of great chances and he is not rusty. problem, they are getting more chances than us.

Could have used that in the first three games Knuble. Could have put a little more force into that run.
