Something interesting Burlon said in his going pro story.

A New Jersey Devils' second-round draft pick (No. 52 overall) in 2008, Burlon will sign a professional contract soon.

"They've been occupied with the World Championships and some other things so I haven't signed yet but it should happen sooner rather than later," he said.

Ooh, Burlon is letting out secrets.

Occupied with WC's and other things = Zach Pach and Hitchcock.

I don't know, but this pissed me off. Still don't know if this caused him to retire or had any bearing in it, but I didn't like that at all. I think we should keep Rolston too. Call me crazy, but he is one of the best goal scorers they got right now. That might not say much, but he's bailed out the team with a goal more than once last season.

Rolston can still score goals from time to time, he plays well on the PK, and he's a decent triggerman on the PP, but he simply isn't worth $5 M on the cap. Not for his production.

2 big goals against the isles ? that's about it.

The "other things" probably have to do with the draft.

How you guys feel about a trade for Backstrom (The Center )

Hes played bad(In the playoffs) and Id be willing to give up a good amount for him.

Josefson + 1st Rounder 2011 + Burlon +

We'd never get Backstrom. I'd give up an arm for him, but there's just no chance.

Backstrom the goalie? or Backstron the Washington center?

If the first, no. If the second, we aren't getting him.

He's signed forever, isn't he? I don't think the Caps will give him up, he plays so well with Ovechkin.

Not this post-season he hasn't.

I'm convinced he's injured.

Lately Ovechkin has played alot with Johansson because Backstrom is playing so poorly.

I think he must be injured. In any case, Washington would be stupid to trade him when he is at his lowest value, and McPhee is not stupid.

Yeah. He's been pretty mediocre all season in BBs new defense oriented system. It's not like his play this postseason came out of nowhere..

That package wouldn't do it for a contending team like the Caps. Would you take a 1st, a good forward prospect and a decent defensive prospect for a signed Parise? No you wouldn't, and they'd say the same for Backstrom.

Mogilny's graham cracker hip had a lot more to do with him retiring.

I thought we debunked the possibility of Backstrom last night...

Not going to happen for a myriad of reasons.

I really like how Burlon, Gelinas, and Urbom will most likely be in Albany next season. Maybe they will develop some chemistry together and it will be great for us in the long run. I'm sure Kinkaid will be happy about it too.

My God...the relief that we'll feel this time next year when we're free of Rolston will be orgasmic.

Next summer is going to be awesome. ~$14 million coming off the books.
