HNIC Play On! Tournament Reviews

Hey Guys & Girls,

Just wondering if anyone is planning on entering the Hockey Night in Canada Play On! Street Hockey Tournament thatís being held at Scotiabank Place on June 4th and 5th?

Iíve seen a lot of videos and commercials, it looks like a lot of fun and some good competition with divisions for all ages and skill levels. Iíve been to the website and just wondering if anyone has and reviews or stories from past experience in the event?

Thanks!

I'm joining with a few friends, looks like fun! Although I've never done it before.

I've done it once, and am going back this year. It's a blast, but only if you know what you are getting into.

The different skill divisions are there for a reason. Make sure you pick the right one, or you might spend a day getting torched (no fun), or winning every game 8-0.

Be sure you bring a stick you don't care about (or use a plastic blade), as the pavement at Scotiabank Place will ruin your stick blade after a couple of games.

Depending on your luck, you may play against a team that takes this kind of thing way too seriously. I saw a couple of fights break out last year and a lot of unsportsmanlike behaviour. It's par for the course for hockey though.

Hey guys,

I hope it's okay to post this here but if you guys are looking to compete in the PlayOn Tournament, it might come in handy. Tourism Burnaby is hosting a contest for this event. You can win a two-night stay at the Hilton Vancouver Metrotown, a $50 Gift card to Metropolis and a team entry to the event. Check out the contest at: http://tourismburnaby.com/PlayOn/contest.html

Thanks!

Was lots of fun!

My team finished 6th in our division, we knocked out the first seeded team along the way though!
