Actually, that is a very solid proposal. I don't think either team does it for obvious reasons.I am one Leaf fan who would love Stastny, but i know we have nothing close to the value the Av's would need to move him.

I'm pretty sure we could just sign Peter Statsny as a UFA whenever we like....does Burke go this route? Or should he try and aquire someone a bit, younger.

You'd rather deal a 23 year old with 3 30+ goal seasons.....why?

Peter Statsny's rights were relinquished the moment he retired. He's a ufa, we can sign him. He might be out of shape and a bit too old for burke's blueprint; but worth a shot, no?

It's weird but I'd like to see Zetterberg traded for the exact same package as proposed by the OP.

Not to knock Kulemin, he's a solid player, but this deal wouldn't even come close if I were the Avs
This. The fact were talking about 57 points being a bad season for Stastny just shows how good of a player he is. Kulemin is one of my favorite players on the Leafs, but I cant see him putting up multiple 70+ point seasons as Stastny has shown he can do.

I have no issues whatsoever with Stastny's cap hit if Leafs were to trade for him. Id actually rather go that route than pay the 31 year old Brad Richards $8 million a year or more.

Grabbo had a better year than Stastny at less than half the wage. He's not worth Kulemin

So Grabovski is the better center?

By your definition, Grabo had a better year than Malkin too. Pitt should be all over a swap.

This thread is funny for 3 reasons.

1* The original proposal.
2* Stastny being offered was changed to Peter.
3* Counterpick offer for a Sheen, Charlie or Martin.

He was last year at both ends of the ice. You can't dispute that. Moving a high scoring winger for a high scoring centre is a lateral move for any team that doesn't have a surplus of high scoring wingers

Well Toronto fans have been wanting a new coach. I wonder if Emilio could take the rag tag kids in Toronto and turn them into a contender? 80 montage video of the Leafs skating hard and having fun in practice? Maybe at the start Kessel and the coach don't get along, but at the end of the montage Emilio and Kessel are slapping each other on the back smiling?

Stastny is a 2nd pairing d-man. Duh.

No he wasn't better than Stastny on both ends, and I can dispute that. You see a bunch of Avs games I take it? Let me guess, "I saw 10 plus Avs games. I have league pass" no. Sorry.

And calling Kulemin a high scoring winger after 1 good season is asinine.

As an Oiler fan I'd consider trading the first overall pick for Stastny. But you're right, Kulemin is worth more than the 1st overall pick.

Seems like it has a better chance of happening than Toronto getting a #1 center.
