I hear no loud noise in Twin Brooks.

edit: A girl I know is telling me that there is a natural gas leak by DS MacKenzie.

edit edit: Holy crap, I can hear it now.

I believe it's a Gas leak close to Ds Mackenzie(sp?) which is causing the noise.

Or Aliens.

Didn't think it would be possible to hear the noise from downtown. Apparently I was wrong! That's super freaky.

I just got off the phone with the police via 911. They told me there was an explosion and subsequent gas leak in the vicinity of 106 Street and 40 Avenue. Residents who have not been evacuated are being told to close all doors and windows.

I live near Calgary Trail and 106 Street, and the noise is unreal.

wtf? I went for a short walk this eve and heard that, very very strange sound and loud south of me. (I'm on 106 street but north of 40th street)

Hell some siren was going off this past weekend at 7 in the morning.

I work in natural gas production and it is pretty damn loud when high pressure gas vents or goes to flare.

Gas leak near Ainaly. Evacuated homes and closed a street.

I live off the Henday on the southside and it woke me up from a nap, my dog was flipping out. I went outside and could smell it clearly, like I was gassing up my car.

Why couldn't this have happened a few hours earlier? I wouldn't've minded getting out of class early today

I honestly couldn't tell you, I only have the info my girlfriend's dad gave to her, which was where it is and why they're evacuating, because they live in that area.

As Beerfish said, not even close. Add to that, it was all cleared up last night already, traffic flowing everyone back in their homes. It was actually a Pressure Release Valve, so it was doing exactly what it was designed to do. Issue was somewhere else along the line, I believe. Investigating the cause right now.

The E.J. said there was a power outage at a facility nearby that controls that line. If there is no power there then there would be no way to control the valves that regulate the pressure in the line causing it to build up and pop the the relief valve.

Doesn't seem to have been any explosion in the area like the 911 operator was reported to have said.
