Bryzgalov to KHL

Just saw on the sportsnet ticker that he's begun negotiations with SKA (I believe) of the KHL about a contract. Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere. Feel free to merge mods if it is. Just saw the players headed overseas thread. You can add it in there but seeing as Bryz is a little better than most headed that direction I'll leave it to your discretion

Could just be a tactic by his agent to help squeeze a few extra bucks out of potential NHL teams or create a sense of urgency to get him signed so he isn't floating around in UFA limbo most of the summer like some other goalies have had to do.

I always got the impression he likes the States. And he's still highly capable. I wonder if he'd consider playing in Denver. We can always hope!

Woah that is too bad for teams like Colorado,Tampa and Philly. I guess Vokoun will cost an arm and a leg.

It could be this...

or it could be a case of him believing that Phoenix really is moving to Winnipeg and there's not much of a goalie market so he might as well take the big money offer while it's on the table. I'd be sad to see an entertaining rock-solid goalie like him take his talents overseas where I'm likely to not see him again, but, for his sake, I hope it works out better than it did for Nabokov.

At least he's being honest about going to Winnipeg. Belanger's already said he doesn't want to go to Winnipeg either.

Absolutely stupid if he goes to the khl, if erik ersberg can be a stud there...well then bryz would just be wasting his talents. Colorado imo would easily pay him $5m+ for his talents(is it that cold there?). If he wants to win he can take a slight discount and be in the sunny weather year round for the lightning.

I highly doubt he goes to the KHL.

I mean he hasn't even tested free agency yet. There is going to be quite a market for him. Unless he doesn't like the NHL and we don't know about it I see this simply as a negotiation tactic.

I can't see him deciding he's going to the KHL without first testing free agency.

Excatly!!!!!! My guess is Phoenix is still his priority if the ownership mess gets fixed and the team is still in AZ. However, it could be that its Phoenix or no other NHL at all in all of this.

Someone will offer him 6 million per in America

Someone else will offer him 10 million per in Russia

I wouldn't be so quick to say 0% thats a definite/absolute and unless you're him or his agent, which I don't think you are, you don't know for sure.

He's only talking to them because he can't talk to any other NHL club but Phoenix. It's just getting a price and taking it to the NHL. He's not going to walk to the KHL.

0.0% chance.

Uhh, he's a Russian who could earn more in his home country. Why wouldn't he sign there? Oh because Flyers fans were expecting him to sign there...

I don't expect them to at all....I'm just telling you he's not going to the KHL.

Flyers have a better chance of trading for one of your Kings goalies then signing Bryzgalov.

Yes but that isn't what they want. The fact is is that in today's NHL you have a very small window to win the Stanley cup. They could trade for Bernier yes but they already have a rookie in BOB. They need a goalie who can win now.
