Quick question about game schedules

Recently a friend of mine who works in City Hall (Vancouver) told me that the reason we had the 2 day break was because of the elections. I was just wondering if the NHL really did schedule games like this, I can believe it, but it seemed like kind of a stretch. Thanks

No chance CBC was giving the game to TSN, so, yes, it's pretty believable.

NHL does not want to be blamed for low voter turnouts.

Yeah that seems like a plausible explanation. They must have planned it right after the 1st round ended. Maybe that's why we played so soon after.

Know your priorities, the election should plan itself around the NHL playoffs.

No. CBC adjusts games to ensure that they have a Sat. game for the only Canadian team left. That's why Van got 2 days off from game 5 to game 6 in the Chicago series, so that CBC could get MTL and BOS on Sat. night.

Same situation here. Game 1 was Thur, game 2 on Sat. In order to get game 5 on Sat. night, they would have to give 2 days off. Might as well do it during the travel rather than when both teams are in Nashville.

CBC had to give the Bos/Phi game to TSN. It's the responsibility of CBC to cover the election however.

it sounds credible. they had 5 weeks advance notice of the election, just like the rest of us. easy to plan around, especially since most of the playoffs dates are TBA.

Of course.. CBC has a MASSIVE Election coverage.. they couldn't miss out on covering the election in favor of a hockey game..
