Nichol didn't even take the draw, which confuses me even more. Why the hell was he out there? If it was to take the faceoff then he should have been in the circle. If it was because of fatigue on the bench, then TMac should have taken a time out.
Have you seen how many times the first guy gets kicked out?

come on... you can't give them any life. they're a dangerous team. i would have rather got blown out and rolled the lines and be ready for game 5. this is heart breaking.

This wings team aren't pushovers, the sharks have squeeked by with 1 goal wins.
Refs GIVE the Wings a goal... multiple ridiculous PPs... let the Wings hold, tackle, hook, punch, everything... and the Wings still barely managed to win...
Yes, the Wings are dangerous, but I'd say they don't have any more life in them than they did before this game. They're still down 3-1, need to win 3 in a row, and BARELY won this game, even with all the help the refs handed them.
You know... You were on your heels for 2 or 3 minutes. You are clearly getting dominated. Faceoff in your own zone and Todd doesnt call a timeout to calm down the team?
True, but Nichol out there, still?
If Pavelski was thrown out, he still wouldn't have won the faceoff.
Nichol is just too small for winger support on the draw.
Should have called timeout, but Nichol still shouldn't be out there. Look at his +/- this playoffs.
He is basically Grier was, but worse out there.

I don't think many people were kicked out on the Sharks side this game, and even if they were, you're slotting Nichol in a line that already has THREE natural centers.
If you watch the final goal, Mitchell gets absolutely pulled down from that scrub Abeldkaeter. Apparently this is the NFL
That one was so obvious. I saw it happen and was like okay, we got it, Mitchell has a step and then oops he's dragged down and suddenly there's no one defending the point man. GIMME A BREAK.

Yet, somehow both officials missed it and the "experts" missed it too. Even after playing back that goal 4 times they still never commented on it.
Just watched the final goal in slo-mo and it was totally goalie interference. Wish I could screen cap. I think it probably goes in anyways, but that's not the point.
Reffing could have been better, but I think the Sharks showed that they don't need to refs' favor to win games. I thought they battled hard and played really well for pretty much the entire game. There's no point in complaining about something that's completely out of your hands.
Slotting in Nichol on the wing of all places and not even to take the faceoff? Not taking a time out when your top guys are exhausted and the ice is obviously tilted in Detroit's favor? That's something that could have been prevented. McLellan made a mistake and he payed for it.

there were three penalties on that play...goalie interference, tripping and tripping
