Who would you trade for Kyle Turris?

It could be one, two or more players and/or draft choices.

During his draft year, he was considered one of the best available. He did get picked 3rd overall, after Pat Kane & James Van Reimsdyk. It's understood that being picked in the top 5 doesn't guarantee that the player will be as good as projected or, for that matter, even make it to the NHL.

Also, to take into consideration is the fact that though he did well at the AHL level, he hasn't shown a whole lot yet while in Phoenix.

Nevertheless, based upon projections, possibilities and, of course, opinions (humble or not), who would you trade in order to get him?

In my poll, I've made some suggestions:

Brendan Gallagher, Nathan Beaulieu, a number of draft choices, etc.

Gomez.

Phoenix needs a center in return and they can use his cap hit and reduced salary in the next few seasons.

Would never give Turris more than 3M though (at 3M, for maybe 2 season, I would take a flyer on him).

So it's a moot point.

Gomez.

Although wedon't really need another offensive center with Plekanec, Desharnais and Eller...

With those options? None of the above.

Makes no sense to give up that much for Turris when he can't even produce over 50-60 points a year. I'll pass.

I wouldn't give up any of our better prospects for him. He's not looking like the player everyone thought he would be, I don't care that he had 4 good games in the playoffs. Most overrated player on HFboards by a wide margin.

The only one I'd even be able to stomach if PG did it is Weber + Leblanc.

And even then Leblanc could turn out to be better than Turris and Turris could be a total bust.

Would never do any of those deals. Gallagher could be better than Turris. Every player in that list has potential to be better than Turris even Bournival! (In terms of all around game not just pts)

At this point he could be Pouliot 2.0

Wow, those options are mostly insufficient to get Turris. I would pass on Eller, probably, but so should Phoenix. The rest of the options are good ones. I liked Beaulieu's first exhibition game an awful lot, however, which gives me pause on him, but before that, I would readily have dealt him for Turris. I think Turris is going to be a fine player in the NHL.

I don't really know what he's looking for, however... if it's just to get out of Phoenix and then he'll start acting sane again in his contract negotiations, fine. If his demands are mad past that, well, never mind, don't want the headache.

But aside from Eller and possibly Beaulieu, I don't think any of our prospects or the picks listed have anything like good odds of matching Turris, so I'd have to go with Turris.

I'd give a 3rd rounder in the 2012 draft. Filatov style.

Hey now that we have signed campoli, do you think there is a trade in the making. Possibly sending Weber or Spacek out of town?

I don't have a proposal, but if the Islanders are out of the playoff picture (as I expect them to be) I would love to see the Habs pick up Frans Nielsen in a trade. Exceptional defensive player who's making peanuts this season (though an UFA at the end of the year).

And with a resounding I agree, 3rd rounder for projects like those two.

Very true, and they got tremendous value on the contract he's currently on... practically criminal.

Anyone else here think Owen Nolan would be a great pick up to strengthen the third/fourth line and provide some scoring insurance?

No, he looked pretty bad in camp.

Coyotoes won't get close to full value for Turris right now. Most I would offer is DD, our 2nd round pick and a prospect throw-in type, Mitera

With Edm. needing defenceman, what about a trade involving Weber. What could we expect back for him?

How's Ben Eager doing? They have a lot of fiesty players over there + they signed Darcy Hordichuk as a heavyweight fighter. Maybe Eager could be expandable even if he just signed a 3 year.

Ben Eager is a staple for the team to protect all their young stars. No way do they get rid of him, even with Hordicuk there. Plus, no way do I want to see Eager with the Habs. He can hit and fight but besides that he's just not a good hockey player. Complete liability on the ice defensively.

I'd like to see him signed to an AHL contract with the Dogs and if he does well, maybe sign him to a pro contract.

He was released from the Devils' camp.

Yes, the main reason is to have another quebecois in the organization.
