I wouldnt mind seeing Carle moved. I have my fear that one of Leino or Versteeg is gone. Wouldnt mind trading Versteeg and Carle for A bigger physical D man or a good power forward.

Something like this

JVR - Giroux - Carter
Hartnell - Briere - Leino
Nodl- Richards - Upshall/Neidermayer/Ward/Belanger
Shelley/Rinaldo - Betts - Eaves/Asham/Nichol/Grier

Pronger - Timonen
Meszaros - Coburn
Gill - Skrastins/ Sopel/ Hejda

Vokoun
Bobrovsky

I think Gill would be the first guy I want besides a goalie. He would help us on the PK and help our physical play. He could play top 4 minutes if needed and take pressure off of Pronger and Kimmo. A Pronger - Gill PK unit would be fun to watch. I think we have the offensive depth where we can sacrifice a few players and become more of a defensive team. Less running around and more solid positioning.

Just my opinion
Does not compute.

Two scoring lines, one shutdown line, one checking line. Enough skilled guys on the bottom6 to move up to top6 as injure replacements and enough penalty killers on bottom6 to let top6 guys rest. Deep defense and elite goaltender.

Yeah I know... wishful thinking...
I'd let OD walk cause I think he's starting to slow down, and I'd rather drop Syrvet and grad Wisinewski on defense.

Honestly I'd be surprised if Wisniewski got under 3.5, maybe 4 million. I doubt we can afford him if we're going after a goalie.

pretty sure habs fans were talking 5m. Which id never pay, but if it's 3.5m ish, id definately want him. He's a RH shot, which is a bonus on our team.

That's the thing though, 3.5 is the lower limit, worst case scenario for him. Zbynek Michalek got $4 million and he's not a offensive powerhouse by any means.

Flyers can't afford Wisnewski unless two of Carle, Hartnell or Versteeg are moved. Depending on what happens with Ehrhoff, he will likely be the top free agent D-man on the market. Because of that, I wouldn't be surprised if he got between 4.5 to 5 million per, which is about a million more than he is worth.

Cole will likely get a raise or stay where he is, and I think that might be too much.

I'd do it, but I think when it comes to Florida fans, they will give nothing for Kulikov probably. But Carle would get #1/#2 minutes and probably give him more points next season. They need offense and defense, that's where Versteeg would come in. You could try it on the main board as a trade proposal, but I'm sure you'd get shelled for it.

Florida would say politely "No thank you. Don't call again while offering that."

It would make Florida a better team. They have plenty of cap space, too.

Their pretty much in rebuilding mode. The have no reason to trade Kulikov, especially when next season they have Gudbranson who will most likely make the team and pair with Kulikov.

Off season Priorities - Flyers

What are yours?

Me:
1. Get an elite goaltender.
2. Upgrade prospects/farm with future NHL talent via trade (Carle, Versteeg)
3. Get an elite faceoff man for the third or fourth line. Someone who can be counted on to win key faceoffs
4. Upgrade the Powerplay (Knuble type for the front of the net, new coach to run the PP?, Timonen off PP, Briere and Giroux on separate units)
5. Switch from three scoring lines to two. Change third line to a chip and check line/grind line/ shutdown line.

Interested to here others thoughts on what "should" be the priorities

They don't need a overpaid D-man and forward for one of their few bright spots. Also IIRC most Panthers fans around here were very pleased with Weaver's play over the course of last season when they got him.

Exactly. Kuli/Gud is going to be their #1 pairing when Gud completely matures.

I know alot of people want to switch to 2 scorering lines, but I am pretty sure the chances of that happening are slim to none.

If we sign a big time elite goaltender, I only want Bryzgalov, 4 years younger then Vokoun and to be honest, I think he's better.

The problem is the $$ though. If you had to predict a contract for both players, what would you predict?

Heres mine right now. Tried to be realistic with it. Might update it later.

I'm sure I'll get shelled for mentioning Nabby. But if he wants to play on a better team than the Islanders (he did NOT want to play there) he'll take a pay cut. But I think he'd be a GREAT teacher for Bob.
