This is hoping everyone is healthy (Mueller, Flash), they re-sign Flash to a one year 2.5, sign Eager, and go with big money to the Bryzgalov camp. Get Larsson at 2nd ov, throw him in with EJ to see how they do together. Keep Obyrne/Liles together, with their chemistry, give Barrie/Elliot their shot, see who does better in training camp... Would be exciting if the group of them could stay healthy, and Bryz plays as he can.

Fleischmann could get 3.5 million in Free Agency, I doubt you get him for that little.

-I am fully confident in this group of forwards, the defense is still a work in progress, but look to 2012 to make it better when Foster comes off the books.

i really hope LA has some offensive players emerge (like loktionov/clifford/schenn) and stay healthy for the most part.. i love watching the kings, enjoy a lot of the players, and just love the blueprint they have in their defensive corps... awesome..

it's funny, since he came out of junior, i've always wanted eric brewer on the avs like a silly dream (played in my home of prince george - grew to love him)

but i really think he's staying in tampa bay.. money will end up being there with ohlund soon gone and how effective he is playing in a real system

very true, and hasn't he stated several times sentiments about being grateful to the org. because of that loyalty?

1. The Leafs will likely hold on to Bozak. He seems well liked by his teammates and poised for a bounce-back year, but I still see better options (like, for example, getting Kadri accustomed to his natural centre position with sheltered third line minutes)

2. Plenty of Leafs fans wouldn't want either Laich or Connolly, the latter of who I'd envision a stop-gap on a short-term contract. But truthfully, Connolly's as creative a UFA centre as anyone not named Brad Richards, and Laich provides positional flexibility, grit and size. I'm personally hoping he actually hits UFA.

3. I'm a huge fan of Pitkanen's game, and he'd likely not cost as much as, say, Ehrhoff. White could be another option, and as much as I'd like to see him back, he doesn't strike me as someone Burke would bring back (and he might not want to return, either.

4. I don't think Frattin will be with the Leafs, but if all goes well in the minors, he's someone who could step in once Lupul's contract expires / someone gets injured. Also, if Connolly is given, say, a two year contract, it'd give time for Kadri to develop past a third-line C, let Colborne develop into an NHLer, or simply buy time to draft, trade or sign a legitimate first line centre.

So, here's my stopgap Leafs:

completely disagree regarding connolly - i truly believe if you're going to get a stop gap player, you want atleast one of two things
1 - health
2 - inspired play

connolly offers neither. he is also as perimeter as you can get, which is not how the leafs were successful last year. look at the effective forwards consistently last year : kulemin / macarthur / grabosvki / armstrong / lupul (for when he was here) - their common theme was hard nosed good work in high traffic areas and along the boards, including a cycle

as well, kessel needs someone to run with - we saw it consistently with bozak who tried, poor guy, he tried to keep up but was either a second behind in decision making or lacked the skill to make the high speed play - connolly is not a high speed player where kessel is. if we are going to get a center for kessel it needs to be a high tempo two way guy with skill. obviously our home run swing is brad richards, however if we strike out there i see a practical option only being available via trade.

i think a dave bolland type player is ideal. a guy that plays that two way style with speed and ability to handle the puck with speed...

i don't see a UFA center available.. there are some interested RFA situations around the league and someone might pop up as available, and burke knows how to trade, i think Plan A is obviously richards, however more realistically Plan Aa is trade for this center

he's a ufa to be so i wouldn't imagine it wont be hard to trade for his rights. He had a career year last year which would match this season's year for him. Yet he had to take a pay cut this season.

Seeing how after a career year he had to take a pay cut to play in the NHL this year, i doubt almost doubling his salary after the same type of season but a beast playoffs is too little

yeah hes on a lengthy contract threw 2 of 7 years, i would expect him to at least play 5-6 of those years, and i dont see any reason why tampa would try trading him at this point

i can see it one of two ways... small raise for one year to stay in tampa, or long term deal at something reasonable like 2 or 2.5

Yeah - I thought you might be but wasn't sure.

Eh? What's so bad about giving up the series winning goal?

Not sure what the cost of Filatov would be out of Cbus, but would love to see that guy on Spezza's wing.....and a Eager-Smith-Neil line would be just downright painful to play against.
Could Filatov be a part of the...

...deal? Add/subtract/substitute a piece from each side to include Filatov?

Shanny? Viqsi?

substitute Huselius(yes I know he is more proven) with Filatov(that talent and potential are just to tempting) subtract BJ's 3rd if need be.

Where do we sign?

Filatov could be scary good if he could get it all together, but I'll take pieces helping the CBJ now as opposed to another short stint and trip back to the AHL for Filatov.
