This will get moved if it hasn't already, but I'll play along:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Knuble
Laich-Johansson-Semin
LaRose-Reasoner-Upshall
Chimera-Gordon-Hendricks

Ehrhoff/Markov/Jovo-Green
Alzner-Carlson
Erskine-Widman
McNeil/Cheap UFA like Greene or Harrison

Varly
Neuvirth

I doubt you see this (especially the all-UFA 3rd line), but it's similar to what I'd try to do. Maybe throw Upshall on the 2nd and trade Semin for a partner for Green.

This.

I hope your right. Wouldn't mind adding Konopka, trading for a guy like McClement or if Regehr is available. Ill say it again we need to remodel our bottom six.

McClement would be excellent to slide in instead of Reasoner. I like Konopka's toughness and ability at the dot, but I don't think he offers much more than that.

What about moving Backstrom to the Pens for Staal & his $4M cap hit?

Konopka is also a pretty good pker surprisingly. Would like him as our 4th line C over Gordo. Though the one guy I want above all else is Scottie Upshall.

This is a joke, right?

Backstrom had the worst year of his career, and he still had 16 more points than Staal's career high.

Any lineup minus Semin and Schultz, will be a better lineup, period.

Any or all of LaRose, Upshall, Talbot (yes - Hate the Pens, but he would be a good addition with experience and just adds to the tension between the 2 teams), Konopka and a big physical stay at home defenseman.

I tried creating a line-up for next year.
Moved out uneeded: Schultz, Poti, Chimmer makes a lot for his role, and decided to take out Fehr. Varly trade/KHL too. I didn't include a possible return but made this:
Called-up Orlov and Eakin. (IMO they'll make the team)
Re-Signed Brooks, Arnott, maybe Hannan.
Signed Handzus, Upshall, Markov/Pitkanen/Ehrhoff/Jovo.

One thing I really want GMGM to do is trade Schultz. Let Orlov take his spot.

Green-Hannan
Alzner-Carlson
Wideman-Erskine
Orlov

What's the point of having a young guy up, and not playing him?

There will be injuries, and I'd play him over Erskine, I realized that after I posted.

Seriously, do you poeple not know how to spell their names or is it laziness? Are you the same males who hate that it's a contact sport too? Getting a little ridiculous.

On a more important note, I'm already tired of waiting for Kuznetsov.

Top 6 and top 4 won't change. And neither will the Caps' playoff hopes.

Markov for <$2.5M?

At 2.5-3.5 it's not that far off. Especially with his injuries. Yeah woops I put 2.25. My bad.

I'm thinking Markov would want around the 4 M, playing away from Montreal.

But he's been so injured as of late. Albeit they're injuries that are not his fault.

With all the injuries we had on d. Do you really want to add a d-man coming off injury?

Markov's current salary is 5.75M. He's 31. Even with injuries he could fetch double what some of you are predicting.

Sounds good, but as we all saw clearly in this & previous years that these guys cannot handle the pressure. You cannot win win Stanley Cup if you have weak nerves and that is a fact

OV-Backs-Knuble
Laich-Mojo-Fehr/Kuznetsov
Chimera-FA-Joel Ward
Hendricks-Gordon-Eakin

Alzner-Carlson
Hannan-Wideman
Erskine-Green

Neuvy/Varly

Schultz/Semin traded
Kuznetsov would join this team if he knew he could make it

PS all the Backstrom trade talk is pure insanity

one off year for a 22 year old who can put up 100 pts is defensively responsible and cares about his team and people want him gone...pure insanity !
