Poulet has the skills, but not the mental fortitude to become a star. His high draft spot has only hurt him so far..

He doesn't have to be a star in order to contribute to the team.

Pouliot

Will Benny be made a qualifying offer tomorrow? Any other RFA's you think will be made QO by the Habs?

I've seen a few people say that he needs to at least be sent a QO by tomorrow.

Oh, make sense. NHL procedure, any offer has to be received with at least a few open days before the expiration date.

Because the deadline for qualifying offers is tomorrow.

A team can still sign a RFA before July 1st, but they don't, they will become UFA on July first if they haven't received a QO by then.

I have doubts concerning Pouliot's future in Montreal. It would be a waste concidering what the trade was... but it simply ain't working here.

Is he worth another shot? Yes, but he better step it up big time.

deadline is at 5pm tomorrow

According to Renaud Lavoie, looks like hes pretty much gone.

Another wasted asset.

Too bad we couldn't have gotten Nicklas Bergfors for him on draft day. Won't be the end of the world either if he gets resigned.

Sunk cost fallacy. When one of your investment just isn't working out, sell it. Don't look back at what you wasted on it, it'll only influence negatively your assessment.

The question PG should ask himself is: is Pouliot a fit in my current portfolio? Is he going to bring me back something worthy in the future, either in goals, assist, fight or trade?

Or should I use the 1M$ on something better?

If they tender him an offer it will have to be for a minimum of what he made last year: $1.35 Million.

I think that they know that Pouliot would sign it, and they would be forced to having him on a contract at that rate.

Instead they won't send him one, dangle his right's to anyone that will listen, and if no one bites they either allow him to walk on July 1st or try to get him on a 1 year deal for less salary (900 K - 1.1 Mill).

The question is if you're Pouliot's agent; how much do you think your client will get on the open market?

My bet is he signs a 1 year deal at around 800 K in a place like FLA, PHX or CBJ.

damn shame if that's true...

That's what I mean. Florida doesn't want him and we don't want Pouliot.

Would be an interesting swap. We'd get smaller, though

I don't understand why he's not worth $1.35m? Ok he's not top 6 material but he isn't asking for $3m. He is one of the leagues better producers at $1.35m imo.

I would re-sign Pouliot so we can roll three scoring lines.

Cammalleri-Plekanec-AK-Pacioretty-Gomez-Gionta-Eller-Desharnais-Pouliot

If we think we can get a UFA to replace him, then put a QO to retain his right at least.

C mon guys, its Pouliot. The guy takes stupid penalties, cant stand on his skates, falls about 5-6 times a game and has zero hockey knowledge. WHy the love for him? what has he done? Utter dissapointment

We should simply let him walk instead of offering him 1.35M now and resign him for 500k on July 1st.

Last time I checked, you don't sign guys based on what he's done, but what he CAN do.

I'd be disappointed to see him walk. He's definitely not going to reach the potential people felt he had when he was drafted but I don't see why he can't become a solid contributor on the bottom 6. He's obviously still got some things to work out in his game but last year was his first full season in the NHL, I'm not ready to give up on him just yet.
