I think we talked about this a month ago when it was first reported in the journal and cbc

Stauffer's mentioned him a few times now.

You'd think someone looking at the Goaltending situations in the NHL would find Edmonton a good option to get some games in. But last year, Eddie Lack chose to go to a team with Roberto Luongo and Corey Schneider as their tandem, so I've given up wondering what these guys are thinking.

I honestly don't know what to think off this. Maybe it's a homerun signing, but it's not like these guys have be turning out to be anything special as of late.

Yah isn't Lundquist the only one who has actually turned out? Or was he drafted?

Oh okay then there you go. Is there any FA goalie that has signed from over there and put up respectable starting goalie numbers?

I guess you could go with Thomas, but not exactly a guy that is from there.

Yah and Thomas was originally drafted then disappeared.

PS. The spell checker on these boards is terrible.

Fasth signed a 2 year extension with AIK back in February.

I think him coming over to NA is a lot closer to rumor than possibility.

Niklas Blackstrom in Minnesota was a FA signing I believe.

I believe you're right. I think that was who I was thinking of instead of Lundqvist. I kinda had a hunch that Henrik was drafted.

Niemi, Hiller, as well as previously mentioned Backstrom. There seems to be a couple home-runs out there, but its really a crap shoot. Although it would be awesome to get a #1 for virtually nothing.

Well yah. I wouldn't exactly call Niemi a home-run. I'm pretty sure Gage or Brathwaite could have won a cup with the Hawks last year if they were in the net.

Niemi is easily the worst goalie to even win a Stanley cup as the teams number 1.

Ive never been a huge Niemi fan, but hes played amazing at time this year. Thats just his problem, he is greatly inconsistent.

Too bad Fasth isnt playing today, I was kind of hoping to get a look at him, oh well.

If they were willing to sign Gerber for the AHL I'm sure they'd make a similar pitch to Fasth.

1 year at 250K in the AHL and 850K in the NHL, plus a 150+K signing bonus? Something like that might make it financially worthwhile to cross the pond.

If am not misstaken i think i read he said he always wanted to cross over and his dream is to play in the nhl.
If there is a deal with a team that shows some faith in him he will go.I think he feels its now or never for him.

Bobrovsky is another starter (at least in the regular season) who was signed.

He's pretty much at that age where it's either now or never.

Which also included an out clause to go to NA.
