Its kind of cool to know that something I made while being intoxicated was able to take off and transcend fan bases. I'm really glad he's producing in Boston and I've been rooting for y'all this post season.

That's not his nickname. No one actually calls him that except for 2-3 people on this board. People call him "Pevs", and I've heard "The Pevs Dispenser" several times. Hopefully the Boston fans can refrain from using the stupid "Raptor Jesus" nickname. It makes absolutely no sense.
I call him Pevs and on occasion, Pevs Dispenser but people on here call him RJ so I had to ask as I, along with others had no clue where it came from. Thanks for clearing it up!

I never post on these boards, but I'm a huge Thrashers fan and I lurk. Anyway, I have a picture up on Flick or Peverley with the name "Raptor Jesus" as the title and I get like 5 hits a day of people searching for this question/answer on google haha

I was talking with Rich and his wife after a game back in Atlanta and told him the internet calls him "Raptor Jesus". They both laughed as they were already aware, I told him it was the ultimate honor and he agreed .
If not for Raptor Jesus and that other guy the Thrashers inexplicably let go (Recchi) the Bruins don't win game 6 and we spend the rest of our lives listening to Vancouverites gloat.

Pro Hockey, the biggest if not the only, NHL dedicated magazine in here in Sweden had him as Rich "RJ" Peverley when they a small column about each player on the Bruins. I'd have to admit that made me giggle.
