Todays national lineups

How would your lineups of the national-teams look like, today?

Sweden:

Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Mattias Weinhandl
Nicklas Lidström - Niklas Kronwall

Loui Eriksson - Nicklas Bäckström - Patric Hörnqvist
Tobias Enström - Douglas Murray

Johan Franzén - Henrik Zetterberg - Alexander Steen
Alexander Edler - Mattias Öhlund

Magnus Pääjärvi - Samuel Påhlsson - Tomas Holmström
Johnny Oduya

Henrik Lundqvist
Viktor Fasth

I think Weinhandl did a great job of playing himself off any best-of-best team the last Olympics.

I would do something like:

Henrik Lundqvist
Viktor Fasth
Jacob Markström

Niklas Kronwall (A) - Tobias Enström
Erik Karlsson - Henrik Tallinder
Victor Hedman - Alex Edler
Oliver Ekman-Larssoon

Henrik Zetterberg (C) - Nicklas Bäckström - Loui Eriksson
Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Johan Franzén
Magnus Pääjärvi - Patrik Berglund - Patric Hörnqvist
Alex Steen - Samuel Påhlsson (A) - Mikael Samuelsson
Jacob Silfverberg

I am assuming Alfredsson and Lidström are retired from international play.

What do you think Samuelsson would say about that line-up?

Pitkänen - Timonen

Looks pretty good. Kubina has retired from the national team, I would replace him with Blat'ak. I don't think Jagr would make a good Captain, I'd give it to someone else (not sure who). I also reckon Rolinek should be on that team, he's great on the penalty kill (maybe replace Vrbata?-not sure).

Man, I has to say, this isn't bad... really, but:
- Yes, Višňovský retired
- I hope, you're just joking with that Konrád guy as 3rd goalie A lot of goalkeepers in front of him: Lašák, Staňa, Hudáček, Hamerlík, Janus
- I think Ružička should be there over Ölvecky
- our golden veterans: Stumpel and Šatan are still available

Anyway, I like it.

Hmm, I distinctly remembered Jagr being captain in the last World's, but now that I look it up I see that he was only assistant.

To be honest, I don't really know much about Slovakian goalies behind Halak and Budaj. I like to bring young goalies as 3rd goalies to "watch and learn". What's the point of bringing a 30+ veteran to sit in the stands and eat popcorn? Thus, no Lask or Stana. I chose Konrad because I liked his played in the European Trophy and he seemed to have good stats from the Slovakian league. I confess that I haven't heard of Hamerlik and forgot about Hudacek.

I guess Satan is done in the national team? I considered bring Stumpel, but I figured he is 39 time to move on. Man, Slovakia is really thin on C at the moment. I believe neither Bartecko nor Surovy are natural centers, but who else is there? I remember liking VIedensky in the WJC, but has still to play at the senior level. The only other two Slovakian centers I can think of are Tomas Marcinko and Juraj Mikus. I have seen neither of them play, but judging by their stats they don't seem good enough for this level of play.

Not only at the moment, it's long-term weakness of Slovak NT. In fact, Bartečko and Surový are natural wingers, but they can play C.

BTW To be honest, your knowledge of Slovak elite players is great .

Aout the goalies- Hudáček is the consensus top choice when it commes to young Slovak goalies. Konrád, well, I don´t have any prolem with him and he´s been pretty good in all NT games he´s played so far (though nothing shiny), but even many Slovan Bratislava´s own fans would like see a different goalies as their No.1 as he kind of chokes during the league.

Yeah, well C has always been our biggest problem, now there´s a few young kids who might become something at that position, but they´re too young to even say that they´ll be players one day for sure. As for Šatan, he hasn´t retired from the NT yet.

I think I'll give it a try, although I know I'm gonna be way off, and probably forget some players or put them in the wrong position.

Marco Sturm - Marcel Goc - Darin Olver
Michael Wolf - Felix Schütz - André Rankel
Marcel Müller - Alexander Barta - Frank Mauer
Philip Gogulla - Kai Hospelt - Tom Kühnhackl / Marcel Nöbels
Marcel Nöbels / Tom Kühnhackl

Christian Ehrhoff - Dennis Seidenberg
Alexander Sulzer - Korbinian Holzer
Frank Hördler - Justin Krüger
Constantin Braun

Thomas Greiss
Dennis Endras
Jochen Reimer

I sure wish someone would explain this belief, and not just by weklof , that JVR is a high end player. He had one very good playoff series. Before that, everyone thought he was a bust. Now everyone feels he is going to be great.

IMO, he does not deserve to be on Team USA.
