Boston University (BU) I believe is where DeAngelo was previously committed with the ncaa. Quaking? Doubt this caught them by surprise.

They are smart hockey people. No doubt that they knew this was coming well before the Sting drafted him.

CHOK says Sting pick up 92 defenseman Patrick Harrison from the Kingston Frontenacs for future considerations.......he played some 55 games or so.

Anyone know anything else about him? 6'1/195 lbs it looks like.

So tha Carnevale deal I mentioned yesterday....comes thru today.

We in Windsor have known this to be a done deal for the past 3 weeks or so. It's nothing new...

I mentioned it weeks ago.....simply brought it up again yesterday when someone said the Sting were in trouble with no Kerbashian, simply pointed out Carnevale was coming.
It was done the day before the draft!

Sting must be sure that Carnevale isn't going pro to do this deal. My guess is that JB will be trying hard to get Rogalski to waive his NTC, or he thinks he's going to Wilks Barre/Scranton. This deal is another indication that Beaulieu is going for it this year. IMO given the fact that players like Yakkie and Galchenyuk only come around every 10 years it's not a bad gamble. Owen Sound went from a team that missed the playoffs to OHL champion in one year. If Beaulieu can significantly improve the defensive game on this team the Sting have a shot at drastically improving because a lot of the teams in the West are rebuilding this year.

Arent OA contracts renegotiated? Couldn't NTC be eliminated this year?

So the top three lines will look something like this

Galchenyuk Carnevale Yakupov
Thomas Kujawinski Ritchie
Brown Alberga Hottot

Wonder what will happen to Latta and Hooey???

Nothing will happen with Hooey and Latta, they are only 2nd year players this coming season. Give them a chance. No way a guy like Thomas or Alberga come in and take their spots from them. It's going to be a competitive training camp, only those who want it bad will get a roster spot.

Good news with the Carnevale trade, even tho we all knew it a month ago. I'd expect he could put up 80+ points this season.

As for this Harrison guy.....for "futre considerations" pretty much says it all. If the Sting are making a run (which it seems this way) then they NEED a top end defenseman.Rogalski as your team "defenseman of the year" is hilarious. Get serious on the back end or all the top forwards in the league won't matter.

I have faith in JB and the organization that this will be adressed either before the season or trade deadline.

The problem with Hooey and Latta is that they are both centres. With Carnevale, Kujawinski and Alberga most likely taking up spots that leaves Hooey and Latta fighting over the last spot.

Maybe one of them will be moved out in order to acquire a defenceman. I agree with you 100% that a defenceman or two is the biggest need for the team right now.

Carnevale definitely fills the void left by Kerbashian. The Harrison trade is pretty up in the air for me right now. I hear he's pretty dependable in his own end and is a solid scrapper. But at 19, only having one year under his belt worries me. Training camp will tell us everything. Hopefully he turns out to be a diamond in the rough.

The possibility is out there that Maxwell and Carnevale could get pro contracts and these trades will be for nothing. We'll have to wait and see...but I doubt they'll get contracts.

It's pointless to point out where the weaknesses and strengths are with this team. Everyone knows our D is weak sauce. All I have to say to that is: TRADE ROGALSKI! Once that happens, our D goes from D- to a C+. Is Mark Katic and Ryan Wilson available to return???

Ryan Wilson is going to be in town this weekend...we're going out fopr drinks Saturday night...I'll see if I can get him some fake ID that will allow him to play as an OA next year

I'd expect that there will be a big push to sign Murphy and they 'll try and trade for another top end defenceman. It will be pricey - probably some more high picks but if they can bring in Murphy - with Chiar, and Broussard , and DeAngelo it could be a big step up on the back end.

I'd expect that Hooey will be an integral part of the plan going forward. I could see him and Hottot on an a defensive energy line next year.

This team I think will go hard for Murphy to help D, but at deadline will really make a move to shoreup D. Hooey will DEFINATELY be apart of this team as will Hottot, I think Latta is on the bubble, especially since he's a euro and sting seem intent on using the 57th or 59th overall import pick. Wondering if there is a D there??

Which makes me wonder, if they are on such a huge push for next year, why would they deal the #10 euro pick? You could have gotten an excellent d man, or added to the O. I think, if Latta stays, he's Jr. B at best, and then i would ask myself, if B, why stay at all?
I can see on whoever posted the lines...Hooey on the third line, not Hottot. I think Hots is on the 4th line...

i see hottot on the 1st 3 lines as things are configured rite now

beaulieu and company have done a decent job in upgrading the sting

overall talent.with the exception of the maxwell trade

waste an o/a spot on an inconsistent goalie with issues

now room for only 1 o/a defenseman a far more pressing need

i imagine broussard gets the nod as the o/a d-man

defense is the pressing issue, and good d-man dont grow on trees

if u have one u dont trade him

sarnia"s future is bright and i know things get get rited right away

they should get a 19 year old goalie,and keep 2 o/a d-men

A great week for the Sting with the acquasitions. Carnevale looks a fine player, with a proven track record.
Lets not forget though, regarding the posters predicting 100 points for this player and that etc, that opposition teams will be fully braced now, and there wont be any teams taking the Sting lightly.
I just hope that they can get at least one new solid D man.

A great week though from the new regime--theres certainly depth at forward.

At S.i.S. Latta on the bubble? I think that your bubble list should start with a few names before Latta's name.

At danks55, Jr. B.? Big opinion, sticking your neck way out on the block.
To me, a biased one at that. I base my opinion on facts. Hooey and Latta seem to be an issue. Here is a quick assessment on both. 1 is good 6 is bad.

Skating, Latta 2, Hooey 5.
Puck control, Latta 2, Hooey 4.
Taking and giving a hit, Latta 3, Hooey 4.
Seeing the ice,Latta 2, Hooey 5.
Defensive end, Latta 3, Hooey 3.
Offensive end, Latta 2, Hooey 6.
Faceoffs, Latta 2, Hooey 5
Shooting, Latta 2, Hooey 4.
Passing, Latta 3, Hooey 5.
International experience, Latta 1, Hooey 6.

What do all these numbers mean? They mean that both players are going to improve. I am not cutting Hooey but if Latta had the same amount of ice time, Latta would have finished off alot higher up in the scoring. Stay thirsty my friends.

Interesting reading there Hermann..I do love those types of scouting reports.
(lol..guess its from my love of "Top Trumps" when I was a kid..lol...did you guys get "Top Trumps?")
I might have to ask you do a full team ratings report.!

I had actually thought that Hooey was more of a Defensive /Faceoff specialist, and Latta more skillfull.
Surely both, as depth is important, will have a place on the 2011-12 Sting?

What I never apprecaitted, as Im hopelessly dazzled with "dash and flash", is the output from Craig Hottot last season; 14 goals and 106 pims.
Granted his plus minus is horrid, but I guess he was playing against the other teams top lines.

I think Craig, offensively, could have had a better year if he had played a different role and with constant line mates. His size is a question but he sure is a hard worker and his pims are just fine. I feel, all in all, that this team had a good chance to be in the playoffs but that was last season. Let us see what happens this year. It seems to me that the new coach/gm is cleaning up a bit. What we don't get to see here are the real reasons people are moved. Hockey on the ice alone is not the only reason for movement. Private issues are a reason, like what does the person do after the game or after practice? Is he dedicated to his team or is he just there to disturb? Meaning the negative side of hockey, alcohol, drugs, just to name a few. I am sure there will be posts after this posting. Stay thirsty my friends.

Hmmmm....not sure where the bias comes in to play. I see your ratings are definitely onesided for someone unless you've attended all home games of the Sting. Not sure where the fact is in your assessment but rather randomly assigned numbers. I guess the only one i can agree with is international experience, although, it is a numbers game at best here. I did like Latta on faceoffs.
The question is, why did Latta not get the same amount of icetime. I think the proof was on the ice, not only fictionally assigned numbers.

Hey S.i.S you forgot his dog. Like you, I get to follow players over here in this country what is about the same size as Ontario, it's regional. What's with the exclamation marks, are you trying to yell at me. Again, I took the otherside of the coin and what comes out four exclamation marks.

Danks55,why he didn't get the ice time, you should ask Mqueen,,,oh,,I forgot he isn't the coach. Lets just wait and see. The November marks will come out again. Stay thirsty my friends.

All I will say is that when one person makes significant posts about a player, but not others, I think that speaks volumes.

Im shocked that "Herman" hasnt once talked about Kuhnhackl on the Windsor thread, if following German players is what you want, then hes one of the best.

Also, curious when did he ever see Hooey play?

Thanks.
