Detriot Trade Proposal

Taking into consideration the possible buyouts of Leclair and Amonte, (along with the additions of Knuble and Stevenson), and assuming you sign Handzus and Zhamnov, how would you feel about this trade?

To Philly:
LW Brendan Shanahan
C Jason Williams

To Detroit:
Michal Handzus

Brendan Shanahan is all but signed to a 2 yr/7M deal, so you would only be taking on 3.5 a year for Shanny. Williams is considered to be a future Gelina/Maltby player. Hes 5'11, but plays bigger than that. Hes 23, durable and is good defensively. He'll never be a 25 goal scorer, but he can produce. He also has a stanley cup ring. Hes also younger than Lapointe and more productive than either White or Sharp. He only makes about 500,000$

No way, I'll keep Zeus on that one.

Why would we trade for Brendan Shanahan? When you can sign him as a free agent... Is it just me or some people just don't make sense at all! Because they don't think before they start talking

because he'll ask more if he signs with Philly.

Would he not have to sign with Detroit first?

There are only about 4 or 5 players I would want from Detroit, and 35-year-old Brendan Shanahan is not one of them. Let's talk about packages for Zetterberg, Holmstrom, Fischer, and Dandenault.

Let's not respond to people who can't spell 'Detroit', as if trying to trade an unsigned UFA isn't stupid enough already.

Detroit and Shanahan aren't going to do a deal and then Shanahan is traded. Besides top 2 left wings are Gagne and Knuble as I see it. They're OK there. No problem on right side either, I say, as Roenick holds a spot and you move up Radivojevic. No Shanahans on 3rd and 4th lines either, and I don't see them moving anyone down to 3rd or 4th to accomodate Shanahan.

Shanny can be had for much less, and I do not like Jason Williams' game.

As slow and frustrating as Zeus is to watch play the game, and the fact that I DO want to see him moved, I still wouldn't want another dying veteran on the team, that of the likes of Shanahan.

The trade is brutal for the Flyers.
An UFA on the wrong side of his career and a guy that honestly is a spare part - he would NOT beat out Sharp and probably not even Somik on this roster for a center with size that is good in his own zone and just reaching his prime?
Awful deal - no.

I can't stand Handzus! That being said, Shanny is on his way down. I'd do Zues for Grigorenko and a second rd pick, but I think Detroit would tell me to swim across the lake.

Pretty much. I'd take Grigs any day over Handzus and he isn't even in the NHL yet.

Zetterberg? I hope Handzeus is not the only guy comin the other way, you want Zetterberg? you better start with Gagne, but as a Zetterberg fan, I would't do it.

I'd take Gagne over Zetterberg any day of the week.

That's your opinion, but for the past 2 seasons I'd say they're very equal.

Maybe on the scoreboard, then you have the fact Gagne is one of the best defensive wingers in the league and plays with offensive dynamo Keith Primeau. Meanwhile Zetterberg is average defensively and leeches off Datsyuk.

Average defensively? hmm this is Zetterberg's speciallty, he's an amazing all-round player and his defensive game is above average, he does everything from scoring to killing penalties, I would't call his defence average.

I think his defensive game is average, Didn't see him a lot i nthe season but he looked really weak on the PK against the Flames to me.

This is the problem, you hav't seen enough of him, almost Detroit's entire roster played very weak vs Calgary accept for Draper and Maltby maybe, Zetterberg is a very complete player and his defence is above average, with more experience he'll only get better.

I didn't suggest Handzus for Zetterberg straight up. I understand why you wouldn't do that, although I think Zeus is underrated by many people. I have to agree with my fellow Flyers fans, however, about Gagne. I wouldn't trade him unless we were getting a legit franchise player in return. What would it take to get Zetterberg and/or Fischer?

I honestly don't think the Wings would trade either. They are probably the oldest team in the league. The Wings only have 2 young scoring forwards beyond Datsyuk and Zetterberg. On defense, they don't have anyone past Fischer and Kronwall thats anywhere near NHL ready.

How about Dandenault or Holmstrom, then?

I'm sure they would probably be more willing to part with those two, but i have no idea what they would ask in return.
