Today's news of the new Hitman game getting an actual name, Hitman Absolution, along with this teaser video makes me a very happy gamer. This is one of my favorite all-time games (all 4) and I cannot wait. There's no official release date, but it's gone from pure speculation for a couple of years, to being confirmed by IO and Square Enix.
The game features its own proprietary engine named Glacier 2 and promises "completely new features never seen before in the Hitman franchise." No word on exactly what those might be yet, though.
The teaser trailer released by Square Enix shows a barcode which reads "110706040147", with the 47 highlighted. "47" is obviously a reference to Agent 47, series protagonist. But what of the other numbers? Well, it so happens that June 7 2011 (11/07/06 in YY/DD/MM date format) is the first day of E3. And Square Enix tells us that the game will be showcased "by invitation only" at E3 this year.
I always thought the Hitman series was severally under appreciated.
QFT.
I remember buying Hitman 2 Silent Assassin for the PS2 the year it came out with my Xmas money. I spent like $80 on it (including taxes) but it was well worth it.
Not really a fan of the Hitman games or stealth type games in general. Stealth is not my strong suit. I always run and gun when I play Hitman and I get a mass murderer rating after every mission. I see why people who like being stealthy like those games though.
Same here, I especially liked the suburb mission where you had to take out Sinistra's wife by rigging the BBQ
Too loud.
Garrote the Poolboy in the garden shed, steal his clothes. Walk up to her and she'll "invite" you upstairs to her bedroom, upon which a single shot with a silenced Silverballer behind the ear will do the trick.

In that particular level, I once used a fully upgraded shotgun, which had a silencer, and just murdered everyone. It was hard, because the gameplay wasn't conducive to that style of play, but once you get all the security out of the way, going through that house room by room hunting down your targets? Yeah, No Country For Old Men style. I shot the clown as he was running for the door, and his ragdoll animation saw him faceplanted up against the door with a gruesome blood spatter smeared across it. Good times.
Also did something like this on the Mardi Gras stage.

My wallet is screaming at me right now for entertaining the idea of buying all the bolded. Ouch.
But like clefty said, I do not expect Hitman Ab out this year, let alone fall. I don't want it to be either because of all that's coming out and because it doesn't seem like they've done that much with it yet so I definitely don't want it to be rushed out and turn in to a POS for the sake of getting it out. I want them to take all the reasonable time they need and make a beautiful game, just like the rest.
Finally! I love this series and have been waiting for a new Hitman game for years now. My day has improved exponentially just by hearing this news.
Well my friend, just wait until June 7 E3... we should get many more details about what's involved... we already know that this game's plot is likely gonna be predicated on the fact Agent 47 has been betrayed by his employers and is on the run from international law. I wonder where exactly the game will take place, I have a feeling it may be outside the US, at least in some part.
