I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Carle is a poor mans Mike Green. Softer than Jello, no shot, and is usually a product of who he is playing with.

I'm not a huge fan of Kimo, but he is better than Carle. I would move carle for a more defensive stay out home dman that isn't afraid to throw the body and clear the crease.

That is why he missed Pronger as his pairing. Pronger takes care of the crease and Carle is the puck mover.

Wouldn't every defenseman in the NHL look better beside a future hall of famer? If Pronger is needed to clean up after Carle, how good is Carle?

Isn't this why even for normal jobs that they want you to work well in a group or by yourself? I think Carle missed the mark on the last part of work ethics .

Did I say he had 40 points?

I dont think there's really anything else to even defend him with.
He is sooooo good at passing! He's so good at passing that he passes to players on both teams!

1 ****ing goal in 93 games and 136 shots. ****ing embarrassing

You may all resume slagging Matt Carle.
LOL

But I suspect Timonen had more to say than just standard stuff. What goes on in that locker room must really anger him given what few years he has left.

Come on now, are your serious? Pairings 1/2, and 3/4 routinely have these types of players together. That is what makes Timonen so valuable, he can play the role of either and the progression of Coburn gives them a guy who can skate the puck up the ice.

Carle has by no means been awesome all year, but in comparison to some of the fwds I think he had a pretty good year and if they are going to keep with the philosophy of building defense(goaltender) out he needs to be part of the plan next season UNLESS they see Gustafsson as ready to step in.

That is okay, the goal scoring fwd cannot hit the net, is soft as a marshmellow, lacks the ability to make a tape-to-tape pass consistently, and disappears in the playoffs.

Anyone see the double standard here?

Let's look at this.

Pronger can be paired with pretty much anyone.
Timonen can be paired with pretty much anyone.
Coburn can be paired with pretty much anyone but Carle.
Mezsaros can be paired with pretty much anyone but Carle.
Carle needs to be paired with Pronger or he looks like complete *******.

One of these things is not like the others.

Are you talking about Mike Richards leading the team in holding hands and singing Kumbaya? Why would Timmo be angry at that?

hahahahaha

As a forward, Carter > Carle
As a defenseman, Carter > Carle (probz)

plus I don't think you know what a double standard is, as I didn't say anything about Carter

I used to be slightly critical of Carter, but from reading your posts, you produce all the necessary Carter hate single-handedly.

Enlighten me. Who can Carle successfully be paired with besides Pronger?

Fun stat:

Carle w/o Pronger in line up (regular season)

32gp 0g 19a 19pts +16 (0.59375 points/game)

Carle w/ Pronger in line up
50gp 1g 20a 21pts +14 (0.42 points/game)

Yup he turns into a turd when Pronger was not out there.

I know Carle does make some bad decisions and turn overs, but he is not nearly as bad as people make him out to be.

Edit: Made a mistake with +/- stat w/ Pronger in lineup

To look at Pronger this year isnt really fair. Everyone knows he had a pretty bad year, injures and play wise.

He is pretty bad defensively. Thats the truth.

You forgot playoffs (where he played only 1 game with Pronger)

11 games, 4 assists, -8 (worse on the team)

Cant blame Pronger either.

Just as unfair as saying Carle played like **** without Pronger there to change his diaper. He produced more and was a + player.

P.S I still want him off this team because we could do more with his salary, and get a good return.

You can definitely look at playoffs and say he played like ****, hell most of the team played like ****.

I know he was on the ice for a few of those horribly weak goals, that had nothing to do with defense, but he was also pretty damn weak on protecting the crease, which lead to some goals.

Matt Carle, Timonen should both go. If you look at Timonen he has lost his speed and he really has a hard time getting the puck on net. I would still rather have them over OD

PS I see Uncle Ed is using the injury crap again for a excuse why we did not move on.

Ed is the PT Barnum of the NHL. I think God Bless America has a losing record of late. Time to move on Comcast should FIRE Uncle ED

Who Matt Carle plays against changes a bit when Pronger isn't out there. Pronged was also struggling for some notable stretches this year.

He led the D in SOG I'm pretty sure... Timonen also had a hip injury, which almost certainly has a lot to do with his skating problems in the latter half of the season.

What the ****??!!

Do you have any idea how lucky Flyers fans are to have an owner who is passionate about the game and the team? At no time have Flyers fans ever had the slightest concern about the team leaving. They're in very small company there.

On second glance... Carle was +30 in the regular season, so there is something fishy here. Prongerwas also a plus player...
