I personally think Hossa is probably one of our best defensive forwards...I vote keeping him unless you're getting someone with a similar play style coming back.

So

Campbell and Hammer+ (Brouwer, Kopy, Beach, Draft Picks? Other prospects?) for Marleau and Murray

Sign Greiss, Adams, Asham, and Wiz.......Dont really need to sign adams if we got dowell..

I no it wont happen...just having fun

Agree.

I really think Managment should take a look at either Zac Dalpe or Zach Boychuk of the Hurricanes for a centerman if we can't secure one through trade this offseason.

Both are really looked upon as high end players who can make a good impact on a team. Sure their numbers don't tell a great story, but if you watch them play, it's a whole other story.

Wisniewski won't sign for that little.

Marleau makes Sharp expendable. They are similiar players, and you can bring in a decent second line center for Sharp's money and put Marleau on the top line.

And Marleau on the top line? Did Toews get traded or something?

Getting rid of Sharpie is a ridiculous idea. He should retire a Hawk.

I don't want to see Sharpie go either, but trading for Marleau would pretty much force us to make Sharp expendable.

I don't like to think about that...

... but at the same time, the return would be handsome.

Marleau is a better hockey player then Patrick Sharp. Maybe not in the clutch, but Marleau does everything Sharp does and is faster.

You'd roll Marleau - Toews - Kane. Like San Jose has rolled Marleau - Thornton - Heatley.

Marleau signed a contract extension 1 year ago.
Marleau has a NMC

Campbell turned down a contract extension with the Sharks before he signed with us
Campbell has a NTC and won't waive it for SJS

too many things that need to happen

Yeah and beyond that Bubba, I think we saw proof last summer that Doug Wilson isn't interested in helping the Hawks out of their salary cap problems.

It hardly helps us. We'd clear like 200k in space. What it does do is give the sharks another dman who can play well offensively, which they could use.

Besides that, I'd be willing to bet that doug wilson had no interest in hurting the hawks through the cap, but just want Hjalmarsson or Niemi and did a savvy move to get one of them.

I disagree...we could replace Campbell. Marleau would give us two deadly lines that would be #1 quality lines on many if not most teams. What I didn't get is why some people in this thread said we would need to trade Sharp if we acquired Marleau? Heck no...having both of them would make this team sick and they would have been able to afford it under the cap.

Of course, the chance of this trade ever happening is slim to none, so in the end it's a moot point.

I was talking strictly from a cap perspective...

ūmm... adding Marleau for Campbell has nothing to do with Cap.

Marleau makes Brouwer/Kopy worthless and their projected Cap will be a FA DMen 1.5 million signing

Pretty sure this post was implying that Marleau for Campbell helps us from a cap perspective...

I meant it does in an indirect way. The difference in cash is minimal. But the potential trade would have filled a huge void, while getting rid of an expendable asset...thus helping the cap situation. But I can see how you read my post that way...it's all good.

Ahhh, i get it. I thought you meant it strictly from a cap perspective but you just meant in general, doug wilson isn't going to help the hawks. Though, I still think it would be a win/win for them too. They really only have 1 d-man capable of handling the puck effectively. Overall, they are a good d squad, but they could use another PMD for sure.

Although it is nearly impossible... we would have a killer top 9.

Sharp-Toews-Kane
Brouwer-Marleau-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Frolik

That is a top 9 that could win the Cup.
