WOW

This time it appears to be true .. wow. I am shocked, lol.

I've always liked the guy, as a 5th or 6th Dman he is perfect, can add a bit of offense (he has improved in this regard), but specially can play dirty and throw his weight around. That clip on Jagr at the World's last year is a perfect example .. man you guys don't think we need somebody in our D who LIKES doing that? I certainly do. Love Hamrlik, Gill, Spacek and all but none of them like to play physical or throw hits.

I highly doubt Hamrlik is seeking 4 mil. And he's not 38.

With the options PG has the Habs' D could potentially be a very good and reasonably priced D where money could be saved for a top six, scoring forward as well.

This will be interesting to say the least if Emelin is signed.

+1

I never doubted Markov would be back, but if this happens, even more certain.

Would Yemelim play with Markov you think?

He's a left handed shot. Not sure if he has any experience playing the right side?

Sorry he is 37

Anyways Spacek was signed at 3.75 or something like that, Hamrlik was making 5.5 how much of a pay cut do people think he will take considering he knows how much Spacek is making. Bottom line is we are better off trying Yemelin then bringing an old player back like Hamrlik

Makes sense. With Markov, Yemelin and Subban, that will be enough of an offensive punch on the blue line.

With the money we save from not signing Wiz and giving Weber ice time, who can we go after in terms of forwards?

Thanks for clarifying that ..

I am just saying that to ease his transition to the NHL, it wouldn't hurt to partner him up with Markov for even strength shifts. Their skills are complementary and Yemelin has really improved offensive game (26 points this past season in 52 games).

He has said time and again he would take a paycut to stay in Montreal. Spacek was 35 when he signed that contract and it was signed with a desperate Montreal IMO.

I'm all for Emelin coming over and probably my dream scenario would be to see Spacek traded and Hamrlik signed for 2.5 to play on the third pair or with Subban.

Markov - Wiz / ????
Hamrlik - Subban
Emelin - Gorges

Sopel / Weber

With Hamrlik's ability and if he would play at a discount, IMO it opens the door for a very good D and money left for a scoring forward.

Picard ? He isn't even a Montreal Canadien anymore ! Why would you mention him ?

Assuming Emelin signs for around 2 million i would think that at the very least we would be looking to add 2 forwards.

One top 2 line winger:
Brooks Laich
Simon Gagne
Erik Cole
Tomas Kopecky
Ville Leino

One bottom 6 forward:
Curtis Glencross
Maxime Talbot
Mike Rupp
Chad LaRose
Joel Ward
Zenon Konopka

We can't keep Wizniewski, cya Gill and Sopel...and trade/waive Spacek. Hamrlik can be one hell of a bargain for what he brings since he's willing to take a pay cut to stay in Montreal...I say we give him a 3 year, 2.25 millions per type of contract.

Markov - Emelin
Gorges - Subban
Hamrlik - Weber (or Spacek if we're really stuck with him)

Extra: Picard, Spacek

Only problem with that is say Markov goes down with another serious injury then we are in trouble again. I would still sign Wiz

Markov - Yemelin
Subban - Wiz
Gorges - Weber or bring back Gill

Spacek we gotta try to move him if not keep him and don't sign Gill

This will be very good if true. I don't think people know exactly the type of credibility this guy will give us on the back-end. He's the type of nasty mother****er who makes forecheckers think twice about what they do because Emelin will decapitate you and he will go for your knees.

He's a disgusting ruthless player that you don't like on other teams, but you love to have him on your team. I can't wait to see what he does to the Bruins forwards next season.

Markov-Gorges
Subban-Gill
Wisniewski-Emelin
Weber

I imagine this means Hamrlik's days in Montreal are over, unless he comes ultra cheap as insurance.

I would think Markov/Wiz is still a one or other scenario.

Picard will resign in case Weber or Emelin cannot hold down an NHL spot / Injuries.

Hoping Gill gets that last place.

Not signing Wiz ? Really ? Wow you are on a streak this morning.

A 51 point defenseman ! Yeah we should keep Weber instead, maybe we could resign Hamrlik and Picard, because we all know we don't need James.

Ding Ding Ding ! And what is the obsession with Picard around here. What a useless stump. Do you guys honestly think outside the bubble sometimes ? You don't imagine that on the UFA market there is one player that could be better then him ? How about getting a 7th D with some muscle ? How about we try to protect our players a little, like James said !

Can't fight but tough in a sense he doesn't really back down and hits hard. He also would instantly be our newest agitator and if he sticks as a NHLer easily be with Subban as most hated around the league (but this time a lot more warranted).

If Gauthier can get this done, I'll gain a new respect for him. To the point that I'll have some hope Trunev might come over one day too.

It's simple math: Markov or Wiz.

Fact is, we could afford both, but that means no upgrades on forward.

If Weber, Markov and Subban play and stay healthy, that is three offensive D in the line-up. Wiz, while good, just doesn't fit.

The team needs an upgrade at forward far more than it needs a fourth scoring D.
