My mistake, then.

Still, it doesn't mean Botch is willing to respond to HFF as a source.

Doesn't really matter. If he does have broken ribs we'll find out after the series.

Can you really get "frozen up" for broken ribs and play through the pain? I doubt it. At the very least not better than a healthy Ballard or Tanev or Alberts would be. That might give some indication as to how credible HFF is.

hmm according to the results of a google search Tom Brady played much of the 2009/2010 season with three broken ribs, so I guess it's possible. Anyways, we'll see.

If the Canucks were pre-Colonial India, Ballard would represent a caste somehow lower than "Corpse Handler"

Dont use that analogy. That comes perilously close to being a racial remark. Castes in India, even lower castes, were treated much better than natives were treated in Canada. Or serfs in Europe. Or blacks in America.

Please dont use this hockey forum to denigrate India.

It wasn't meant to offend whatsoever, I'm sorry if you saw it that way. I was merely making a joke that Ballard is seen as "untouchable". I'll just say sorry if it was insensitive and leave it at that. I have no motive to "denigrate" India, I spent five weeks there in 07 and enjoyed it thoroughly

Hamhuis was missed very much on the back end. So many turnovers and lack of skating it's ridiculous.

Don't be ridiculous, seriously. That is honestly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. That comment makes me think of the South Park episode where Germany was named the least funny country and got upset over it.

Really?

OK then.

Ballard is treated by AV like a black slave in Jin Crow's AMerica.

He is being treated like a Native American boy in a Catholic residential school in Canada.

He is being treated like a female in Islamic Saudi Arabia.

Start laughing Mr Comedian. Dont you dare talk to me about racism.. just start laughing your head off.

Lemme start it for you:

No, broken ribs, even heavily bruised ribs, will cause a lot of the core muscles to tense up and become quite painful. He would be limited in mobility and likely be a liability out there.

Don't think you can compare Brady, who wouldn't do a lot of moving in the pocket anyways, to Hamhuis who has to skate up and down 200 feet of ice.

Trevor Linden can teach him how to play through it.

An intrepid journalist on this forum started this whole thing off by covering caste. I'm adding to the body of knowledge.

Keith Ballard is like a Jew in 1930's Germany.

There I went all the way, we're all horrible people. Can we move on?

It depends how bad Hamhuis' ribs are actually injured, if it is in fact his ribs (which I don't think has been confirmed yet?). A bruise or a mild fracture could be frozen and bound a la Tom Brady and he could play through in limited minutes. If the injury is at all severe then there's no way, the core area is just too important.

It's not a rib, it's his back. The way he was hunched over, hobbled. I wager he strained a muscle in the lower back, but it is severe enough he can't play.

I think you have to assume he is done for the series and make do with what you have, win games 2-1 and win 2 more.

What's almost as funny as racist jokes, is the people who get upset about them.

God I love freedom of speech.

Somebody with *a source* said it was an injury Salo's had before...which narrows it down, lol. Him and Botch were having a wink-wink nudge-nudge fest on twitter trying to out in-the-know each other.
