Healing on it's own? Dan Hamhuis = Wolverine?

I was hoping we could use Hammer in the same way Salo was last year. Keep him on IR to get more depth and bring him in when someone else gets injured.

This appears to be the case.

The tendons are a little bit stretched or torn, but they're healing on their own. They're not going to go and surgically repair them. It wasn't as bad as they originally thought, which was good news.

Exactly. The injury was mostly unknown, but even at its worst, they simply didn't know. It could very well be speculated that his return would be late, but November was only mentioned because the media and/or people on these boards lumped in Hamhuis's possible late return with Raymond's expected late return.

Or it was based upon what the usual rehab time would be for a more serious abdominal injury.

I had hernia surgery last August. The thought was I had about 6 weeks recovery pre-surgery. When the surgeon got in the damage was way worse and they had to do some extensive repairs and I did not make near a full recovery until the following January.

At least some good news on the injury front, good for Hammer. Still worried about Raymond though.

Kind of hard to believe that that brace takes enough force off his spine for it to heal. Seems so small!

Back braces are designed to limit spinal movement. It doesn't need to take the weight off the spinal column, it just needs to prevent bending. Looks like it would do that just fine!

No setbacks for Mason Raymond in his re-hab. It's going well and continues to see doctors with positive results says agent J.P Barry.

Mason Raymond

I was wondering how Mason's recovery is coming along. I am a Wings fan but have not heard anything about him in the news lately and was wondering how he was doing. I would not wish what happened to him on anyone except Matt Cooke.

Well, maybe Alex Burrows.

Just kidding

Haven't heard much but he's projected to be away from action until (at least) December.

Man that is rough. I figured it would be a pretty long recovery. He is believed to be able to make a recovery correct? I know some back injuries can cause quality of life issues and you just never know how a person will heal.

He should be back by November/December.
Gillis said recently that his recovery was going well, and he is recovering on time.
