2011 Atlanta Fan Dispersal Draft

Was talking with some other mods and the Admins, and they agree with us. We all think it would be pretty awesome if we did a fan Dispersal Draft if the Thrashers move to Winnipeg. It would be good for a laugh, relieve some serious tension around here, and just be pretty fun overall.

The only way this goes down is if the Thrashers move, but things'll happen pretty quick if they do, so it's best to be organized now. Here's how it would work....

1. Admins would determine a draft order. We haven't determined a system yet, but I have my ideas on how it would work.

2. Each team's mods would caucus with their board's top posters to make their selection.

3. The picks would be announced on a special post, probably in the general NHL forum.

Any other input y'all? Also, please post here if you're interested in being a part of this.....come on guys! it's just for fun! I think we need some fun....

I'm in.

Was the suggestion about having scouting reports a bit much? Even if it wasn't on everyone, it would still take some time to compile.

There's probably an easier way to assess the poster, but I'm blanking on anything else.
Mind is not working at peak performance right now (which is dangerous seeing how much suck there is when it's at 100%).

In lieu, or perhaps in accordance with, this idea I would welcome you guys to have a "lounge thread" on the Hurricanes forum for displaced cosmonauts. It makes ZERO sense for you guys to lose contact with each other if the team is gone and it would be the least that a SE team could do. Your today could be our tomorrow and every team in questionable financial situations needs to recognize that.

There again, still holding out hope for the Thrash.

Give me like a week afterward to get over the initial feelings and I'd be cool with this. It would help numb the pain.

I'm in, but I let my agent know that I refuse to report to Philadelphia.

I'm in, but agree, it has to wait for a bit for the scab to form. Maybe the week of the NHL Draft so the interest will be there?

The Drafting team MUST include a new avatar that we get to modify a bit.
Kind of like getting our 2011 draft jersey

As far as a draft report, we DO have that "who are you" link on our home page.

I will accept now but will want to be traded to a winning team for an obscene contract... but I am down.

And this would be like a reverse draft and the team with the most success this season would start the draft?

And wouldn't we pick the teams, not the other way around?

i'm on the lookout for overly sarcastic posters who enjoy the pain of a team that finds new ways to disappoint you every year. Hating management is a must and whether you chose anti-muckler or anti-murray, you must be able to back up your position with irrational off-topic rants.

applications can be mailed to any arena way out in the suburbs. Not like the mailman could find scotiabank place anyways.

after years of dealing with Buffalo sports misery...then moving to ATlanta for the Thrashers inception and dealing with more of the same...

hopefully the Pegula Era in Buffalo can finally bring me some freaking JOY in my fandom.

A future 1st round pick in the next four drafts (Phoenix, Florida, Columbus, and Carolina) plus a 3rd rounder this year??

PS: We have Kovy. If you still love him, Jersey is a perfect place to come relax.

You are all welcome to join the Bruins board but there is one must.

You must hate the Canadiens.

The closest thing to being a Hawks fan was enjoying the Vacation movies. (Clark Griswold wore a jersey from time to time.)

To be honest, so long as I gets paid, played and laid, I'm your boy.

If the Thrashers move, I'll be a Ducks fan first, a "whatever team is called if they move" fan second, and a Blackhawks fan third. Draft accordingly or I will follow a college team for 4 years and then pick wherever I want to go, like Blake Wheeler.

As in Blackhawks, yes, in kind of bandwagon way. I followed them all last season (hadn't started posting here) cause I thought they'd win the Cup. Big fan of Kane, Hossa, Toews, Leddy, and Morin.

This could be like day laborers standing by the side of the road. Other boards can come by and tell us what they're looking for and see which one of us jumps in the truck first.
