Rumours are that Mathew Peca, Tampa Bay draft pick that played for RBC champs Pembroke Lumberkings is sitting around in Quebec City waiting to clear waivers with the OHL. He was named top forward for the RBC. It will be interesting to see if another team in the OHL picks up his rights or they let him go, so far his rights have moved from Windsor, to Ottawa, to Kingston and to Kitchener. He is a very talented player that will make an impact wherever he lands, he also has a full ride NCAA scholarship for this season but rumours are that Tampa Bay wants him playing Major Junior hockey.

It was confirmed in the newspaper this morning that Peca is in Quebec. We'll know tomorrow if Kitchener accepts to waive him. So far it seems complicated. Roy asked the Q commish to contact Branch.
QMJHL: Lightning choice Peca might land with Remparts
By Neate Sager
The moral of this story might be that Patrick Roy always gets his man. Gauging where Tampa Bay Lightning draft choice Matthew Peca would play this season after leading the Pembroke (Ont.) Lumber Kings to the RBC Cup as Canadian Junior A championsh has been rife with bum steers and dead ends. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound centre's Ontario Hockey League rights have passed through three franchises since June, most recently being acquired by the Kitchener Rangers.
However, with QMJHL training camps opening, Roy, the Remparts coach, general manager and part-owner, has dropped a bit of a bombshell. Roy told Carl Tardif of Quebec City's Le Soleil that QMJHL and OHL commissioners Gilles Courteau and David Branch are meeting Monday to discuss whether the pint-sized Peca (pictured) will be released, allowing him to join the Remparts.
It is a sticky wicket, to put it mildly. It takes in the territorial rights of the two leagues, although Peca's hometown of Petawawa, Ont., is about the same distance from Quebec City as it is from Kitchener. There's also the angle of a player breaking a NCAA commitment to join a major junior program, which is very hot-button after the can of worms College Hockey Inc. executive director Paul Kelly opened a week ago when he accused CHL teams of offering six-figure bonuses to entice players away from the NCAA. That isn't to say that's going on here, of course. Thirdly, though, and perhaps most importantly, it speaks to how flexible the CHL, which says it's trying to become more about putting players' needs ahead of hte teams, is willing to be with accommodating a player. The stereotype that smaller skill players can thrive more in the QMJHL than the two leagues to the west still holds true for a lot of people. Given his stature and his paucity of PIMs (just 24 minutes in the penalty box in two seasons in Pembroke), Peca might seem best suited to the Q.
Kitchener associate coach Paul Fixter has sang Peca's praises. The centre had 72 points in 50 games last season with Pembroke in the Central Canada Hockey League, a well-regarded Junior A circuit. Averaging a point and a half per game as a 17-year-old at that level is no mean feat, given Junior A teams often have an older roster on average than their CHL counterparts.

Rumour also has it that the Quebec gave Mac Namee $100.000.00 for signing will pay for his school and his sisters, also that Owen Werthner is also in Quebec City trying out, maybe some more money going Werthners way, as he is committed to Clarkson for 2012/2013 interesting will shall see what comes out of Patricks wallett.
What i'd like to know is which Remparts owner is a billionnaire????
Desmarais.
And **** yes! Grigorenko, Duclair, Erne, Sorensen and add Roy who can chip in and the two ontarians and we get a solid offense this year! Very exciting moments ahead. The defensive units are experienced and Lefebvre-Barnard can still do wonders offensively. Lastly we get a 20 years old Domingue who hopefully won't choke.
Hopefully the forwards develop quickly, because I'm scared they don't produce in their first year due to a lack of experience and this will likely be Grigorenko's only year in Quebec, we better not waste it!!

Domingue is 19. Overagers are Roy, Tam and Barnard.
Duclair need to get stronger, hes thin, there's a chance albeit a slim one that he returns to LSL, he's not physically ready for MJ, the same can be said about Jon Drouin.
The Seadogs are still better and still the team to beat.

You have high expectations for them both, Duclair was going to return, last Patrick Walsh was returned.
Skill wise both are ready but they're not physically mature to the point where they'll rip it up.
Drouin has some holes in his game still, he's inconsistent, still very much a kid.
No offense to Walsh (I like him actually), but Duclair is a far better prospect. I don't think anyone has roof-high expectations for Duclair and Drouin, everyone knows they're 16 year olds.
EDIT: A point could be made for Victo to be the team to beat as well.

Oh I agree Duclair is way better, but I'd be shocked if he and Drouin dominate from the start, I think obviously Duclairs game fits the Q, a friend of mine went to school with him and he said that he's got anger issues but he's also the type to pull the NCAA card.
As for Victo being the co favorite I don't think they're on SJ level, if they get everyone back and a goalie, theyll rip through the Q.
