Questioned about the status of his European player after leaving the game in second period Ray said, “Out for the season possibly, the collateral ligament and the cross ligament were injured. I have a hard time to contain myself because I’m furious.”
“I don’t know if we have the right person in place to severely punish these types of hit, I looked at the blind side hit of Arsemeault (Vincent) of Shawinigan Cataractes against Philippe Halle of the Gatineau Olympiques (suspended 8 games), it’s a gift. I like Raymond Bolduc (league disciplinary prefect), he is a great person but he is too good a person, he has hard time to be severe against a player who makes a hit like the one we saw tonight because he took in consideration our schedule of 68 games instead of 82 like in the NHL. We can’t see a hit like tonight anymore.”
I think the guy that hit sorenson should be out as long as he is, its the only way they are going to stop it. No room for that in the game. They still do not let the talent play the game the way it should be played.
Will they ever get it right i guess Patrick Roy was right. The suspensions have got to mean something a repeat offender gets 15 games how many guys does this guy have to hurt. Sorenson is gone for season the guy that does it gets 15 game what is wrong with this picture. The league has got to wake up.
Again the league failed with suspension. 15 games for a repeat offender how many guys does this guy have to hurt before they get it right. Sorenson gone for season what is wrong with this picture. I guess patrick roy was right. They have to make it mean something.
OHL Ontario hockey league can get it right 20 games for hit to the head. About time Quebec league should take notice that guy will not do that again. Quebec league 15 games for repeat offender and the kid is gone for the season WOW.
Just talked with Associate Coach Martin Laperriere for some upcoming articles for Hockey's Future and slipped in a couple of questions on Sorensen.
Laperriere says he doesn't expect him back skating regularly until May or June, but the team hopes he'll be ready for the start of next season.
Knee injuries take a long time to rehab and even when the player is back in the lineup it doesn't mean that he's 100%. I remember talking to Brendan Mikkelson way back when the Memorial Cup was hosted in Moncton. Mikkelson was a member of the Vancouver Giants but suffered a similar injury that season. He was skating on his own during the Memorial Cup but wasn't anywhere close to being able to play. Even the following season, it wasn't until the second-half of the year that he finally found his form.
Laperriere said that Quebec wants to take it slow with his recovery to ensure that it isn't a continuing problem.
