We won't know who ends up being the best player out of the draft for several years. It might be any of the guys in the top tier, it might be a late first rounder, or it might even be a guy we've never heard of who gets picked in the fifth round. We don't know for sure.
How can #4-#6 overall be a steal? Winner of the draft? Maybe.
Meaning he's flying under the radar more so then the regular names that are getting tossed out there. You always see the same names tossed around and that's Landeskog-Larsson-Couturier but very fiew talk about Huberdeau and he can be the most dominant player out of them all... even RNH for that matter.
The ISS rankings have him at 7 and that's his best ranking. All I'm saying is that he can be the "Jeff Skinner" of this draft.
Skinner seems like the winner of the draft, but is he a steal? I don`t think so. Tarasenko is. (still too early to judge, usually 2+ years needed) Eberle is. Berglund is. Giroux is. Merrill should be. Kuznetsov could be. Tedenby could be. Speaking about a steal in the top10 is a contradictory theory in my opinion. A steal in "my book" is a personal dark horse not expected to do much damage based on his pre-draft year and draft year season but able to be much more valuable piece to his team than anybody else thought before. Possibly with an all-star potential. That`s what I call a steal.
I define a steal as a player who, in retrospect, should have gone much higher than he did. Parise is a steal. If we re-did the 2003 draft right now, he'd go in the top 10. And we got him with pick #17.
I know at this point all we can do is speculate but i still think in the end Couturier or Landeskog will be a Devil come draft day and if it actually comes down to picking between those two players I think Lou and Conte pick Couturier because he is a big solid centre who his good and reliable in his own zone, plays physical, can make plays and knows how to score which is something I think this team needs badly a big strong physical two way centre and Sean Couturier definately fits that need for us down the middle.
I see RNH, Larsson, and Landeskog gone when we pick. If so, I'd like to take Huberdeau if we are going after a F, I think he's got the highest offensive ceiling of all the F in the draft. Couturier is a great player, but I think we could really benefit with Huberdeau's hands

* The 15th overall player will be one sick mofo at the NHL level
Surprising how it actually turned out. Even more surprising than Merrill's drop is Galiev's. Washington was projected to take him with their first rounder in that mock, but they ended up getting him with their third rounder. Madness.
taking huberdeau would be great for the cats. not just to benefit us by allowing us to take larsson, but because they could really use a player like him.
