Joachim Nermark.

Z I think will be the better player overall, but Nermark just by reading his comments I think could pan out to a top line forward, and a fan favorite. Reminds me of lars eller in his interview. http://www.coppernblue.com/2010/11/8...responsibility

I can't help but fantasize about having both Tinordi and Oleksiak man the blue line for the next 10+ years.

He look more like a 2nd round prospect than a 1st right now. But if he's dominant at the upcoming u-18 like he was in at the u-18 in august he may rise. Here's a short write up by Kirk Luedeke on Nermark

http://bruins2011draftwatch.blogspot...1-roundup.html

Quote:
Joachim Nermark, C Linköping (SWE- Jr.)- After a dominant Ivan Hlinka tourney in August where everything Nermark seemed to touch turned to gold, he had a tough season. He played 12 games on Linköping's SEL entry (1 assist) but spent most of the year on the J20 team, tallying 8 goals and 26 points in 37 games. He's a skilled and creative player by all accounts, but didn't show much of the creativity and magic he did on the Under-18 Team. Nermark is no slouch and could be a nice developmental find in the 2nd round for a team willing to gamble a little (hello, Detroit?) on a player with his potential, but scouts we've talked to are pretty perplexed as to what happened to him after showing so much promise.

He's a smart. energetic, passionate player who takes those intangibles and brews a nice concoction with his impressive physical and skills package. Versatility is also a bonus for Zibanejad who can play center or either wing as right-shooting player. He's a long strider who gets up and down the surface quickly and at 6-2, 192 pounds has plenty of room to fill out and get stronger. Zibanejad has soft hands and the vision/instincts to make plays all over the ice. He's also got a hard, heavy shot that he uses to great effect, sometimes seeing time at the point on the power play. We've seen him move fluidly and effortlessly from the point to the middle of the slot and uncork some nice drives, so he's a dangerous offensive player that defenses must account for. He's a banger and relishes physical contact. Zibanejad just oozes star quality, and we're sure that when you get a good look at him, you'll quickly see why so many are high on him right now. We're hearing that scouts have him near the top of watch lists for next month's Under-18 Championship in Germany- if he has a great tourney, don't be surprised to see him crack the top-10 at the NHL draft in June. Yes, he's riding that kind of a wave right now.

Thanks WTK for the Kale Kessy find.

I would like the Habs to draft one of these forward
J.C. Lipon
Turner Elson
Kale Kessy
Klarc Wilson
Jordan Wyton
Austin Connor
Adam Lowry
Brady Brassart
Collin Valcourt
Colin Jacobs
Mitch Elliot

It could add a little sandpaper in our prospect pools some will develop more into a bottom 6 role, but that's still the guy of player the team always need.

Also Alex Roach could become a pretty good find in term of physical shutdown dman.

Good idea. IIRC the Habs have a 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th.
Does anyone know which 4th they have though, is it theirs or the Ducks? I don't know which one got traded to ATL.
I believe they still have ANA.

They hold their original 4th in the 2010 draft and dealt the 5th they got from Lapierre for the 2011 draft for Mara.

We seriously need a 2nd round pick.

But I'm not willing to trade away our first if we are in the range of 10-25 If we are above 25 I'd trade our 1st for a 2nd and a 3rd or something.

I believe they traded ANA 5th, what they got for Lapierre, back for Mara. They have ANA 4th for trading Chipchura. And they dealt a 4th, I believe it was their own and still have ANA, with Maxwell to ATL for Sopel.

Maxim Shalunov would be worth it because of his high skill level, but his character issues make him a no draft, or a candidate for the grabo, dago, sergei, lats, ribs treatment.

in case anyone watched the Giants for Gallagher, what was your impression of Wesley Vannieuwenhuizen? Out side of having a great name, is he worth anything good?

PPG looks pretty good.

That is the one thing about college hockey. Yes it is good for the player to get an education but doesn't it set you back in terms on hockey. Isnt playing in the OHL or WHL better for a players development ?

Depends. CHL allows players to get used to a long schedule and the competition is stronger. NCAA only has like 1-2 games a week but I believe focus a lot on physical training.

That could be true or false depending upon the player and his desires and the team drafting and theirs.A player that is a quality pick 1st or 2nd round may have a chance to be playing for an NHL team in his first two years. This player should probably play in CHL as the total games and quality of play will closely match the rigors of the NHL.If a player is aware that he will need three or four years experience and gain weight so he's ready for the Pro game. These players are better served playing in college after the USHL or BCHL then learn how to play in team systems playing against men with less emphasis on quantity and more on becoming a complete player. In the last decade there have been huge increases in the amount of players going to college and then to the NHL.Both ways have merit depending upon the player's needs.
