When you import a save game from the original you get some money (some report they got an absurd amount of money, I didn't), the relations are intact and you get to keep some of the items (Ravens Armour, Swords) from the first game.
I chose the Scoia'tael path in the first game and haven't played enough to determine how much of an impact it has on the game.
Cool, when I continue my first game (still very much at the start) I might pick that path as well. Iorweth is the commander and from reading the wikipedia dedicated to this game he seems pretty good to have on your side. To be determined though.

There's a nice guide there too, which I'm gonna use. Since I already played that game, it's only fair for me not to play over 60 hours again beating those quests with no help.
So I guess everyone is having a great time with it then? Worth every penny?
I sure am. It has been a long time since there was an RPG where choices/answers actually change the course of the game, rather then different answers to end up at the same spot.
I am finding looting dead enemies a bit of a pain, trying to find and target the loot can be annoying, but that is a minor complaint.

I didn't get any money, but I did get the Raven armor and my swords. I've since replaced the armor and steel sword, but the silver sword lasts for a while it seems, probably because I just haven't crafted a new one yet.
I'm wondering what exactly it takes from your imported save, story and character wise. I lifted the curse on Foltest's daughter in the first one, but I bought a book from a dwarf bookseller about her and it says that I killed her. I went neutral in the first one, so I don't know about which path you choose having an effect. It's looking like the nuetral option might not be available in this one. Damn them for making me actually make a choice! That is one of the best things about both games so far though, tough choices with actual consequences need to be made with little to no information about what those consequences might actually be and how far reaching they will be.
Definitely having a lot more fun with the combat now that I'm really used to it; it's challanging and rewarding. The wealth of options available to you make it a lot of fun and you can go about each encounter in pretty different ways.
There are some conversations where only you can only select one option and then it ends, but there is no indication of this, so I've ended up reloading a couple times to ask the question I actually wanted the answer to most. I just wish that it would let me know that I only get one question.
I have run into a minor bug. One minor quest "Little Shop of Dreams" when I complete the quest the screen goes black. I can still hear the sounds and can walk around it seems but the screen is completely black. Guess I will have to wait for a fix to finish that one.

I didn't have that problem, but what I would do is save your game right before you do it. Then dumb down the graphics to their absolute lowest level. Try finishing it then and if it doesn't work then give up.
After seeing the comments about the combat, unfortunately I'll have to pass on this one. In games like this where you fight a lot of stuff I simply don't like timed combat or having to get carpal tunnel syndrome by having to do weird stuff all the time.
I can certainly understand that it is not a big deal for other players but actual combat is down the list on things I like about games these days.

Thanks for the idea, I gave it a shot but still no change. Reading a bit around and it seems there are others that have the same problem. Oh well, no big deal it just a minor quest anyhow.
As far as combat goes, now that I am used to it and even more so now that I have a few levels and new moves I have no problem with it.

It's not really timed in the sense of rythm like TW1. It's more like timing your attacks carefully so you dont leave yourself over exposed. It would be nice if they had a demo for the game though.
Give me a big reason to buy it. Seriously, I'm really on the verge of getting it .
It's the best action RPG in the last decade.
The world is so immersive, towns believable, characters wonderful, combat action - yet tactical, etc.
I've been absolutely blown away.
Best moment so far?
Probably drunken soldiers singing or maybe sneaking around on a night mission then tripping over a bucket of water and being discovered.

I did hear you cannot remap the keys or something like that. I'm left handed, so I like to use my mouth with my left hand and move with the arrow keys. Some things are the normal buttons for RPGs, but yeah.
I beat it last night, really excellent game. Third chapter felt a little short, but that's okay. I left Flotsam with Iorveth, so I'm going to start a run with Roche in the next couple days.

I'm going to end up loading my save right before I made that decision and just start from there.

You can remap some keys but not all. I won't have access to the game for a few days so I can't say which ones exactly. They have confirmed they will be fixing some of this in the next 2 patches so that's within 2 weeks.

I thought about that, but I want to try a different skill build from the begining and there are some other choices before that I want to see the other end of, such as not giving Iorveth his sword this time around.

Since you finished it, can you convince me to buy it?

Haha, what's hanging you up?
Combat is great once you get over the initial hump when you have no skills. It flows really well and the amount of options you have makes it so you can play a variety of different ways (although it still comes down to sword combat obviously). The targetting can still be interesting at times, but I got used to it and was able to target what I wanted without issue as I went along. The difficulty balance is off though. It's hard as hell at the begining when you have nothing and then you'll be mowing down groups of enemies without issue at the end. I did play on normal though (switched off of hard after my frustration at the begining), so take that into consideration. It does have one build that is a bit overpowered, but others seem to still be viable.
The story is good and will keep you engaged throughout. It's well balanced between focusing on your personal mission and keeping you involved in the overall story and small stories within each town.
Easily the best RPG for having your actions actually having consequences. Every decision you make affects what happens later, sometimes in very large ways. Even quick decisions that don't look like much at the time can have a pretty big impact. The one I spoke about earlier (Iorveth vs Roche) actually takes you to different areas for the whole second chapter.
It's amazing to look at. The visuals are really top notch and the attention to detail, especially on armor and clothes, is fantastic. You may have performance issues though.
It does have it's issues (I still don't like what they did with potions), but it's one of the best RPGs I've played in a long while. I'm ready to do another playthrough right away to see the other side of choices, so I think that should say something.

I haven't finished it yet, nearing the end of Act I now, but yes, what he said..
But. It.
I got the 100$ Collector's Edition.
Best 100$ I've ever spent on a game.
By the way, if you're in chapter one and have Queen Endrega Pheromones in your inventory, make sure that alchemy doesn't use them when you are making potions, you'll want it later.
