New Jersey's 4th overall pick to Montreal

Over on the Habs board, one of the posters was wondering what it would take to get the 4th overall pick from New Jersey, they were throwing around a few things.

What would it take to get that pick if it is even possible.

They were throwing around a package such as:

Kostitsyn
Weber
Kristo
1st round pick'11(18th)
5th round pick'11

for

Salary Dump <------ Rolston
1st round pick'11(4th)

I personally dont think its possible and New Jersey is just going to pick, but from above on the other board that someone posted, do you think it is even close?

Its helps cap wise and brings in some good talent 2 of which are NHL ready and are able to be re-signed cheap and a 1st in the draft still mid pack. Kristo a prospect who seems like he could be a good player in this league.

What do Devils think? Like I said not my proposal, just seen some of the Habs comments and would like to see the Devils fans input.

PS. Habs fans were realistic over there to shooting it down saying probably not possible, but were asking themselves what it would take. Everyone knows that Price and Subban are off limits. Thats why I think it couldn't work.

No.

NJ is loaded with LWs. Kostitsyn is redundant. Weber would be of use, but not as a main piece for the 4th overall pick in a top heavy draft. Kristo is irrelevant.

As someone mentioned they would probably want Subban. I doubt Montreal wants to pay that price.

Yeah I really don't think there is a fair value trade out there for both teams centering around the pick. Dumping Rolston would be nice, but considering it's his final year, it's worth just riding out the contract.

No thank you from a Habs standpoint. I'm not much for gambling.

Personally, I don't think I would of take it.

Subban has proven just in his first year his skill, and he has so much more room to work with and is going to be the franchise's dman. He has so much room to build on what he just did last year.

I think Larsson is going to be amazing as well, just I think Subban is in his place where he wants to be in Montreal.

From an NJ perspective, it depends on the +, but yeah I'd most likely do that.

Gambling deal
#4 = def..Larsson- Hamilton ---- or forwards ...Couturier - Huberdeau - Strome

RNH - Landeskog #1 to #3

my deal

Eller - Desharnais - 1st2011 #17 - 1st 2012 #?

there is a possibility that

Huberdeau - Couturier and Strome, are three flop

New Jersey should not lose his pick
and CH not take risks

Islanders and Montreal would be more interesting
for 2 teams (in my opinion)

No dough you would and it's for the same reason Montreal wouldn't.
The thing is Subban is that good and love to perform for the Habs, something that is hard to do. While down this season and kick while he was down, he managed to get out of the dog's house and became even better. He rises his game to an elite level wen it matters and pressure is just part of the ingredient he needs to succeed.
Has a Montreal Canadien fan, you just can't let that go.

Throw together a bunch of crap and your lower first, and get a high pick that should produce an elite prospect. Why doesn't every team think of doing that, if it's so simple?

The deal in the OP would never happen. Lou would ask for Subban, and Gauthier would kindly ask him to get bent.

He has fun with the pressure of Montreal. Something not everyone cough* Gomez can do.

Montreal isn't moving him and their is really nothing else except Price which is another no no that NJ would have interested in.

The Habs would use that 4th overall pick on Huberdeau if they somehow got 4th overall in a trade.

Well, yeah obviously. Unless the + was something crazy, you'd have to do it. I was just pointing that out, not saying that it would ever actually happen (which I know it wouldn't).

what about somthing like
Carey Price + Kristo + 1th round
Martin Brodeur + 4th overall

Its time to trade price while his value is high and before he got a salary raise summer 2013.
We bring Ramo to second martin Brodeur until Ramo is ready to be #01.

Parise.....mmmm that would be tough to say no no doubt
All kinding aside, Montreal doesn't have the luxury to trade for a top 4 unless it's a masive robbery. With name like AK, Weber, Tinordi.....not good enought for Jersey IMO

Because the value is horrible for both teams somehow, and because the Devils will never trade Brodeur.
