Am I the only one who didn't see Bob with a grading score?

Here's a wonderful lineup:

JVR 1.654 Giroux 3.75 Carter 5.272
Sestito .5775 Richards 5.75 Versteeg 3.083
Hartnell 4.2 Briere 6.5 Leino 2.8
Wellwood .58 Konopka .9 Nodl .9

Pronger 4.921 Meszaros 4
Timonen 6.33 Hejda 2.25
O'Donnell 1.0 Gustafsson .9

BRYZGALOV 5.5
Bobrovsky 1.75

62.6175m

Sign Leino for 2.8
Trade Coburn for Hejda for some salary relief and toughness
Give Bryzgalov 27.5m over 5 years (is that enough?)
Dump Betts (too slow, not good enough on draws, plenty of pk forwards already)
Dump Shelley
Dump Carcillo

not bad.

i would really like to see Sestito make the team and do well. I am not crazy abut moving Coburn for Hejda.

Also, if they are going to commit to Bryz for 5 yrs then send Bob to the A for a season or two so he can play 60 games and continue his development.

I would like to see someone like Torres on Richard's line if he can be had for @ 1.5M.

Versteeg - Richards - Torres (that would be a very tough line to play against)
wellwood- Konpka - Sestito

Instead of Konopka, how about Adam Hall? A bit older, shoots right. Great at face-offs, can hit and has a much less amount of screws loose than Konopka. He also eats up a ton of PK time.

I'm not too familiar with Hejda - I'm just not crazy about Coburn anymore. Forgot to mention it but Carle can go away for pick/s. I'd take Hall over Konopka as well. Torres is an idiot who would be a great fit if he could reduce his stupidity level. He'd get suspended just for putting on an orange sweater.

realistically i think z and/or steeg are gone. and either coburn, carle, carter, hartnell could be traded for a goalie.

I cannot support a team without Powe. Good Ottawa boy. I think we need an upgrade over Betts @ fourth line center (Konopka, Madden, etc). Other than that, I like it. O'D-Gus also works for me.

JVR (1.65) - Richards (5.75) - Nodl (0.85)
Powe (0.7) - Betts (0.7) - Rinaldo (0.544)
Shelley (1.1)

CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $185,568

A few things. Used $63 million as a cap number based on this:
Quote:
The salary cap last season was $59.4 million and Daly said that it could jump to between $60.5 million and $63.5 million for next season.
Also gave Vokoun what might be a low number, but it still seems like it'll be a buyer's market with goalies again this year. Nodl has a lower cap hit, but higher guaranteed money than his last deal, Powe makes the same money, and Wellwood jumps up simply because he's cheaper. Hejda's number may be a bit low as well. Carle is traded for (hopefully) a first.

how much do you think a guy who hasn't played a full season in several years and had another concussion this past playoff season and turns 32 will get?

I posted this in the other roster thread. Just want to see what people think of the idea?

Let Ville walk. I think Versteeg was acquired for that reason.

QO nodl and Powe. Homer said he would qualify them so i believe they are on our roster next year

Try to do anything with Carcillo. I don't necessarily dislike him just no room for him on our roster.

Sign Tomas Vokoun. I wouldn't mind a 4 year deal. The first two years he is the bona-fid #1 the flyers desperately need. Playing 60-65 games a year. The third year of the deal if BOB improves the way he should then he makes a push to get more games. Maybe something like 45 for Vokoun and 37 BOB(just an estimate). Then the fourth year let BOB take over the #1 spot. Vokoun's contract could be something like this... year1-6.0mil, year2-4.5mil, year3-3mil, year4-2mil

I actually dont like the idea of trading Carter.. Keep the core of this team together as long as possible

If a forward gets hurt we could always send Gust down and bring a forward up. I don't know if Matt Read makes the team out of camp but if he does you can take wellwood out and insert Read there. We would have about 60k left if thats the case.

And if we trade someone i believe its going to be Carle.. to free some cap space up and sign a cheaper #5 defenseman. Somewhere along the lines of 2 or 2.5 million a year. I also have no idea who that dman could be haha.

Oh and shelley could be waived at camp and replaced with Sestito- Just saw Meltzer mention that and agree it probably will be considered.

I also think nodl will have a 20 goal season next year for some reason haha..

I know some of you will pick this apart but this is just what i think would be a pretty decent team going into next season.

I'd flat out trade Carle for picks then sign Hedja. Bigger, can still get some points, and probably cheaper. If we could, I'd rather send Shelley down and have Sestito instead. Those are really the only changes I can suggest.

yea i mentioned the shelley thing at the bottom just not sure if they would do that or not, so i kept him in the lineup. I also see people mentioning hedja a lot around here. He made 2 million this year. I was wondering how much people think he might get on the open market?? I wouldn't mind trading away Carle at all if we can get a 1st rounder back for him

don't think there's any way vancouver doesn't re sign higgins

and i don't think there's any way you get larose for 1.5

i'd rather go cheaper and get a decent 3rd line center, and spend some money on a guy like jan hejda.

Well, based on the fact that a one way player like Zherdev can earn 2M for playing 56 games, Gagne may still be worth 3.0-3.5M when signed short term. Don't forget that he had a strong playoffs with Tampa also.

His 32 years of age will not scare away anybody in contrast to his injury history. I agree that he might consider signing with a contender for cheap rather than playing for some crappy team but I doubt he would even talk to the Flyers - they told him that he had no future on this team and asked him to waive his NTC!

There is no way that Cole signs for $2.1 million.
