This is the life of a STH, if you can't accept it, then you gotta go and take advantage of the deals yourself.

I sit halfway up the lower bowl in the ends and when we tanked hard in November/December, there were tons of people around me for FREE.

I see it as a donation, because if you see it as anything other, it will drive you absolutely insane. That and I got bribed with $500 worth of food, I guess.

From what I have seen all of the season tickets prices have gone down this year by NYI. I actually returned to being a season ticket holder again. The first 4 rows are always extra.

They are pretty cheap this year. I am paying $1200 ($29 per ticket) per seat in row J center ice. I paid $1600 per seat 3 years ago in section 309.

In my eyes, the NYI did the right thing by lowering the tickets this year. I have not issues with them as I did the previous 3 years. The Jeff I know at NYI tickets sales, is a pretty good guy BUT each person does have different experience and I hope it works out for you Bones.

1) You threatened him
2) You talk way too much and are inconsiderate of his time
3) You need to learn how to negotiate

Action Items:
1) Talk less
2) Know what you want to say before you say it
3) Don't tell a life story, focus on what is mutually beneficial for both parties
4) Let them know you are ready to renew, on fixed conditions
5) When they meet those conditions, pay
6) If your sales officer is good, he will thank you for a painless experience and throw-in whatever pre-season perks he can like a few extra pre-season tickets

That's pretty good advice not just for season ticket representitives but for talking to any business you pay and want something from like phone companies or whatever.

Oh, the Islanders ticket sales staff...they are a breed apart.

Last season one of their agents ended a call with me by saying, "thanks for your business, and if there's anything the Islanders can do for you, hockeywise or otherwise, just let us know."

Because, really, who DOESN'T go to the Islanders for non-hockey-related problems. "Hey, Islanders ticket staff, I just had a fight with my boyfriend. What should I do?"...

And if I may add, let them know what you are looking for specifically. I negotiate contracts and compensation on a daily basis and if I had a dollar for every time a client said "see what you can do for me" without any suggestion as to what they're really after, I could retire right now.

You will never have a problem getting Isles tickets. Ever.

If you just go on stubhub before the game, you can find the cheapest tickets in the best spots.

Or you could go on ebay.

Or craigslist.

I've done that many times and never would I contemplate wasting a grand a year a person? WTF? Are you insane?

This is the Isles. You will ALWAYS be able to get into this arena. And if he isn't going to severely sweeten the deal, than you need to tell him to F off and run.

Just get rid of the season tickets and buy tickets to the games you want then. You will get better seats and better deals and can pick which games. No one twisted your arm into buying those season tickets and if those are the prices you agreed upon what do you expect them to do.

Yep. I agree with this. If the rep is compensated on upselling vs. churn, you're screaming and threat isn't going to bother him too much. I don't know the ins and out of ticket sales but I'd suggest the cost of retention is less than the cost of new customers so if you're reasonable, they'll negotiate with you, esp. since demand is low.

Just an update on this.. Success.

- moved one section closer to center ice, 324
- moved one row up (E) so its cheaper
- got us aisle seats which we have always wanted

- Got free dinner and drinks (for each party in our group- 4) at the restaurant downstairs -- Ill assume its the place that the blueline turned into?

- got vouchers for 2 extra free seats for 2 games throughout the year (restrictions on the opponent, Im sure)

and apparently, all season ticket holders are getting a winter jacket for each seat they have. Apparently they might be a decent quality.. We'll see.

So.. it looks like I dont have to put a horsehead in his bed.

I have purchased seats on the glass for about $50 a seat for a devils @ isles game. Got center ice seats a few rows back for $35 also. $42 a seats for the 300's is total ****! Hell my old seats at the rock row 1 in the 100's is the same price.

Stubhub my friends!

Almost the same as season tickets considering there will be tickets available for every game. So whenever I feel like going, log on and purchase tickets for 10-20 bucks and head to the rink.

Couldn't imagine buying season tickets for this franchise in its current state. Maybe in a couple years if Wang is gone and things turn around I will be interested.

This is exactly why me and my family canned our season tickets. I told my father (who is clueless about the internet) that we can get bargain tickets on Stubhub before EVERY game and still be able to go to 80% of the home games.

Season ticket holders are a pain in the butt. They are soooooo demanding. I've had season tickets to my local team for 35 years, and we are always getting dumped on by people who sit next to us and pay half what we did.

The advantage of having season tickets is that you don't have to stand in line to get your seat every game. Guess what? It's now a lot easier to get tickets than it once was. You don't have to stand in any lines.

Buy the cheapest tickets you can find whenever you want to go. Sit in different sections every time. Not having season tickets is very liberating.

Its not even close to about the same price. you can buy tickets to every game on stubhut and spend 50% less over the course of the entire season. you cna see every single home game for 600 or less

I went to 23 games last year almost all via stub hub I bet my average ticket cost INCLUDING the ones I did buy at the box office was around $18

I wonder just how many full season ticket holders there are anymore. I doubt it's more than 5000. They really should have done something to keep you, because there aren't many people like you left. Hell even if they gave you vouchers for hotdogs & soda for each game it would have been some type of gesture.

I can't blame anyone who cancels their ticket package.

I would have to assume if a game isn't played there's a lockout. You might lose your deposit, but you should absolutely get the price of the ticket back. But don't expect to be reimbursed for a long time.

They did lower seats prices last year in order to increase the base , (season tix are roughly 40% off of face per game) but it seems that they still can't compete with the stub hub prices which seems to be a better option as per what people are saying here. Last year there were 7K tix sold for each game but that included partial packages as per neil best's article from september of last year above. Full seasons tix last year were only a little over 4K as per conversations I had with the head of sales last year. That was a 1K increase in both partials and full (total 5K in 2010-2011)... I asked a rep recently and they said ticket sales have slowed this year so they may fall back some again. i would assume that any decrease would be due to slight increases in prices this year of around $5 per seats, the arena issues, their finish, lack of big moves, and the cba issues.... i do like the extras i get (cheaper parking, gift such as tavares jersey or fleece and the extra tix my reps give me, meet and greets) as well as the convenience but i hear what everyone is saying and probably a better deal to buy on line..

what i wonder is, who is taking the bath on the stub hub prices discount over what the cost from buying from the isles? i am assuming they are resales that someone has purchased previously only to put on stub hub later, is this correct? If so, I would venture a guess that it is mainly STH's who are looking to dump tix.. however, could the islanders themselves be giving tix to stub hub at reduced rates in order to increase sales? I would be curious to find out if there is a secondary source feeding into stub hub

The stub hub situation greatly varies depending on the team you're talking about. I have seen on the devils boards discussion of teams (in all sports) putting there own blocks of tickets on stub hub. Then you have teams like the devils who seem to be in an all out war with stub hub and ticket brokers. Certain ticket promotions run by nj keep track of te seats sold and if they see those for sale on stub hub they are taken down and that person loses ticket privileges. It's an extremely interesting topic.
