Jagr Coming Back ~ Would Devils Want Him?

Just tossing this out there.

Considering how well Elias & Jagr play together, if Lou could somehow find a way to not only sign Parise, but Jagr as well to play with Patty, would you be cool with it? Even if it means not getting that hard-on PMD this board always wants. (We have Fayne, Urbom and Taomora)

We'd have to find a way to get rid of Rolston's salary, but i would love to see it happen.

He'll go back to the Rangers or Penguins before us unless Lou gives him a ridiculous offer which we can't afford unless we move Rolston. And if we did move Rolston, it better be to sign Pitkanen or Markov. Eric Brewer has also been a stud for Tampa.

If it was cap compliant, I'd gladly take him here. I don't think he'd be coming very cheap though, even though he hasn't played in the NHL in a while. He should never have left in the first place, but I'm not complaining.

He wouldn't come cheap enough to fit under our cap.

It's just not feasible. And there's really no reason he'd pick the Devils over one of his former teams. Pittsburgh would love to have him, they're basically having open casting calls for wingers to play with Crosby.

Cool idea - yes. In reality it's the kind of move that could **** up the entire season. Until we prove we're a hungry playoff team again I don't want any one-off signing of soft, aging vets.

Devils need to get more physical and establish a stronger presence at the opposition's blue line. To hell with any other changes.

I also missed the part where Fayne is a PMD. And this Taomora guy. Whoever he is must have flew WAY under the radar.

Yeah, don't improve the defense, sign a 39 year old winger whose skating is gone. Haven't tried that before. He's a bargain signing that someone will pay $3-4M for and wonder where the money went.

This is way different than paying Shanny $700K prorated to be a bottom six winger.

Dear God, no.

Let the Rangers sign a completely shot former superstar for several million too much, it's kindof their thing afterall.

He would be deadly with Crosby. If he could still keep up that is

I would love to see Kariya come back and play a season with Crosby too, but I also don't want the Penguins to do well

Not happening, spots will be going to younger players, Rolston's cap hit comes off after this season and Lou has stated that the young players will be given a chance. Jagr just doesn't work for more reasons than just this.

If we had the cap space, which we don't, I'd want to spend it on something useful. And not 39 years old.

Would Jagr help the team, absolutely. The problem is the Devils are rebuilding, have too many older players on the roster playing key roles (in my opinion) and are out of cap space. Why would Jagr want to go to any team besides one ready to contend immediately?

Every time I see the name Jagr I miss my old buddy fred...Fred couldn't pronounce Jagr's name and it always came out as Ya-ga. But that didn't stop him from becoming a Hall of Fame announcer.

I miss Fred.
