I'd burn down the Honda Center, and riot Montreal style.

Although, I will say I prefer Richards to Getzlaf.

Honestly, as far as my concerns for this team go, toughness is right between the color tape they use for their sticks and which gay glasses avery's going to wear in his roster photo
i agree with this. the team was tough enough. i also think that - with all the concussions - we're going to see fighting get phased-out. it's already a pretty marginal facet of the game. with that in mind, i don't see a need for a goon on the rangers. good, tough, hockey players will do. and i think the rangers already have that. though you can never have too many, i guess.

Id love to see where a team full of your players would get us.

Probably a ticket straight to the East Coast Hockey League

Anyone care to speculate as to what Konopka would command?

This guy is a hot commodity right now it seems. I think a lot of teams will go after him and he will get too much on the FA market. So I think we stay away.

shhhhh watching 2 goons fight each other off of a faceoff automatically leads the winner's team to a huge momentum boost and certain victory NOONE DENIES THIS

it got a talent deprived team into the playoffs

again, i feel like i must ask, how many games would you say the team lost last year due to a lack of toughness?

a big fat goose egg if you ask me

if the rangers were bullied and pushed around all season you guys would have a point...but that simply wasnt the case

this was the first season in a VERY long time where we dominated the phyiscal game and controled the tempo for a solid majority of the games we played...we didnt have the skill to finish the job enough unfortuntely

i don't see konopka leaving the isles and i'm not sure we'll have the extra cap space to overpay for him as a ufa

but in addition to toughness, he is also fantastic on faceoffs (57.7%) and he kills penalties, which could help allow us to not use dubinsky and callahan on the pk as much which helps keep them fresh

cap issues aside, i like the idea...it might all depend on how much $$ we have to give boyle to determine if we still can spend on another 4th liner.

So to sum up...the thread title should've read "Goons the Rangers should now target". "4th liners" was a tease. And I fell for it...again. Blasted kids!!! And your dog too!

And say what you want about W2, but he's one of our most skilled forwards. He may not have the drive that Cally or Dubi has but he has talent.

Reminds of a Bronx Tale...saddest thing in life is wasted talent...ton of high talent guys who didn't have drive who didn't last in the NHL...but they've given EC a couple of seasons I'm willing to give WW a full season.

Teams that play a pressing forecheck should always lead the league in hits...I would say this team isn't as gritty in their own end. There is no price to be paid playing in the Rangers end.

I am tired of the Rangers and their reclamation projects...they never work!

I am tired of seeing EC on this team..kid has all the talent in the world and no hockey sense whatsoever, I would rather have another Prust type who goes balls to the wall and gives u everything they got.

It didn't work with Zherdev, Lisin, EC or WW

I was a big Orr fan and tried to get excited over the Brashear disaster and actually was excited over the Boogaard signing. I've been a consistent proponent of the heavyweight role and have posted numerous times how you need that deterrent to keep the game honest.

But I think things have changed due to the nature of the team itself.

I can't imagine this lineup letting it's skill players get run again and again like the notorious incidents with Fedoruk and Brashear. I see this team continuing to hit the other team back across all 4 lines and to go to a 5-5 scrum at will if a line is crossed. I also see us as much more willing to run the other team's goalie than any other Rangers squad in a very long time, if that's what's required.

The result is that I don't think we need a hw anymore and certainly not someone we have to trade for or pay more than min money for.

The solution for Prust is to tell him to fight less and save himself for the long season. Worst comes to worst and we want to make a statement, use the Isles method of destroying Pittsburgh: call up every guy willing to drop the gloves in HFD and turn it into a circus.

Philly wasn't happy with Shelly, we weren't happy with Boogaard, Orr eventually got injured and I doubt he'll play the same again for Toronto, DJ King barely played for the Caps...

I never thought I'd say this, but think it's time to call it a day on the dedicated HW. A hard hitting 4th line that can skate well enough to hit, that can annoy if necessary and that can play enough mins to give the other lines a breather without being trapped in their own zone is what we need and I think we already have that.

Prust might have been a throw away for you but I was stoked to see him coming this way.

There are a bunch of undrafted guys in the league....we got lucky for Giradi.

Rozsival was overrated and never helped us win anything.

Jagr is still a primma donna...that was a project.

Plus, u named for that weren't really projects...how many failed?

Let's keep going down that route and it will another 15 years and we will be saying the same nonsense and signing free agents that bust.

How about we build our own ****ing team for once.

Because we don't suck enough to get a player as good as Brad Richards.

Also we do have our own team. Our top 4 d-men ansd the majority of our bottom 6 is either our homegrown property or reclamation projects.
