“Brayden is a big kid with great offensive abilities, and he’s continued to improve every year in Kootenay,” said Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier. “His outstanding performance in the WHL Playoffs was just another positive sign in his development, and we are thrilled to now have him under contract for the next three years.”
Sounds good to me.

I wonder if, as a result of his inherent mistrust of fax machines, Darcy was waiting until McNabb landed at the airport in Toronto to present him with the contract. You can't be too safe these days.

Good to know, he could be a good partner for Myers some day.

Great. Love this kid. Between McNabb, Foligno, and Kassian we have some serious size and toughness coming up.

It must be a relief to Regier not to have to play hardball over every nickel.

Somewhere, Mike Zigomanis still wonders what could have been.

I was wondering when Regier would start inking the prospects with June 1 coming up. Obviously this was a no-brainer, but it's nice not waiting until the last minute...

I get the sense Foligno's agent is asking for top dollar because of Marcus' final season in junior. Now, I'd bet Foligno is waiting to see the dollars McNabb got so that he can ask for the same or more.

Between McNabb, Foligno and Kassian we have a great shot at a 4-peat of AHL Rookies of the Year.

No chance he makes the Sabres. I'm his biggest fan but there are too many people in the way of him making our roster next year. And quite frankly, as dominate as he's been in the WHL, I'd rather him have a year in the AHL developing than forcing him into the NHL right away.

There hasn't been a defenseman named AHL RoY since Ron Ward did it... in '68-69. McNabb could have a similar first season as Butler -- starting in the AHL and pushing up by the end of the season.
