I did do them, without a DEC. Also, i'm in industrial, as you already know. I'll learn autocad, but i mentioned random classes. What if I want to know accounting, graphic design and java? Shouldn't I have an option to pursue my interests?

I suppose this backfires on you but looks bad on me, but yes, in a sense I was. I was kicked out of a school because I did enough to get 60s on what was credited and dumb classes like "personal social development" or "moral ed" I got 0. yes, 0. They told me to transfer out. I wasn't attempting to be a smart ass, I just found them retarded classes. It was insulting we even had to waste our time with that life morals are. Isn't it obvious, or shouldn't it be?

All i'm saying is that freedom to choose electives and earn extra skills would be beneficial. I would've loved cegep if I got to learn my science classes plus basic classes in accounting, web design, robotics, law, etc. Yet, I was told to do stuff they force you to take. I'm all for electives but IMO you should probably do whatever ISN'T your mother tongue. Hell, the system should be, if I came from english HS, I do 2 french, 1 english. If I came from french HS, I do 2 english, 1 french. Or, since we're in quebec, 3-1 if english and 2-2 if french. Then there's what, 3 gym classes that few people care about? Maybe you did, as you have a passion for bodybuilding atm but let's be honest here, how many people ran at the chance to take the "1 week intensive golf class" because they found gym stupid? Scrap the gym class and make a nutrition class mandatory for everybody. It's not life essential to know how to play golf, but it is very good to know what and how to eat. Just an example, don't confuse me for someone dying for nutrition class.

Fair points man, definitely feel you. The question about high school wasn't calling you out btw. I was genuinely curious and I figured as much. Bad phasing when I look back at the question.

I had hockey for gym class though. It was ****ing awesome lol.

Anyone know of any ONE credit course in Concordia that I could take? There's a technical writing report that's available for eng students but I wanted to know my options.

+1000

CEGEP is the reason I got into CompSci.
I might have spent double the time in CEGEP (4 Years)
But in return I got rid of a lot of my bad habits from high school.
And if everything goes well this year I could potentially graduate before or at the same time as some of my friends who went the 2 year route in CEGEP.

Knowing what I know now, had I carried my bad habits over to University I would be a dead duck.

Would anyone happen to have a textbook for Mark 201?

PRINCIPLES OF MARKETING /MY MARK LAB
Author: KOTLER

I know a couple posters mentioned they took it

Also, I'm taking Comm 215 (Business Stats) and I got a book from my brother, it's the exact same but I don't know the deal with the Istat stuff, he has a passcode he never used so I'm sure I can use this text. Just wanna make sure I won't get stuck. God I hate textbook shopping, what a ripoff

Out of curiousity, anyone know a place where you can get assistant manager/group leader/manager in a part-time role relatively easy? I'm trying to beef up my CV for when I finish school in 3 years. Yes, I plan early. I want to have a CV a company will have to consider straight out of university. So having a management or supervision job would be good. I was told applying to places like jean coutu as assistant manager is easy, but there's no part time positions in my area. Anyone else have other possibilities that fit criteria?

Who's starting school tomorrow at Concordia?
I'm in History/English, if you see a snappy dressed blond kid with tight pants, it's me!

Don't Concordia students have access to a Proof of full-time enrollment online for the OPUS card? Much better than waiting an hour at the Service Point for a sheet of paper.

I'm actually going to start work on the same day as school. Work from 8 to 5 and then school from 8:30 to 11PM. I'll try my best to stay awake but I won't promise anything.

Student ID is long if Birks is swarmed and at the first day of school, it probably will be, and you need to take a number to be served for that.

ENCS accounts are quick to make but require the student ID.

OPUS papers only need a stamp from a person at the Birks Student Center they check your status on the PC (how many course you enrolled in). Doesn't need a number.

You should have gotten those done before school starts.

I'm a little bit hurt by that statement. Especially since I'm in your ****ing program. I was planning to give you some of my old assignments but I guess I'll be throwing those away.

Compsci brah, we procrastinate like that. Besides, I only have 2 classes that aren't online, so I doubt waiting a week to get it all done will really make a difference, right?

To be fair, I HAVE spoken to LL about concordia more than you, since you're away playing SC2 alot and don't always reply on MSN. That's not to say you haven't been incredibly helpful (with concordia, AND android) or that it hasn't been very much appreciated .

Now about those old assignments...

To compensate for the high demand of Student IDs they have a student ID desk outside of birks in the lobby of the LB building. They'll see signs around. I can't promise this, but it was like this for me. There is also a line up for Opus card form.

As for me being his reference guy, don't hate. I gave you ENGR 213 papers. I lost half though How'd you do in that class?

That sounds great. Paid internship?

I'm undecided about ever wanting to go into an internship kind of deal. In one way, would be fun to get my feet wet in a real video game studio like Ubisoft, but then again it would become pretty obvious I was only there to steal all their talent and tell them how much their games suck.

Yes paid.

I would tell you it depends. From a business students perspective, experience is key. If you can get a good reference letter or something to make you stand out besides your grade, you'll automatically be "ahead" of the pack.

Now if you're in computer science, an internship might not mean much but give you a glimpse at the industry you might want to work in, and a different perspective from what they teach you in the classroom.

One thing that is cool about my field is that just having a good portfolio can get you in anywhere. I have a friend who dropped out at the cegep level and is now making around 4k/month making web games and web apps.

Look who came crawling back. If you end up taking a course with the same profs I took, I might have some stuff.
I don't pay much attention to MSN anymore in general. If you need something it would be easier to email me (PM me for my GMail if you don't have it) or to text me. My phone or Tablet IS ALWAYS next to me.

Also if I'm not in class, I'm usually ALWAYS on the 8th floor during breaks so you can find me (and Seb and Dave) there.

It possible, I just avoid doing much in the first week. I don't get books till at least second week since some profs list books are required books but in reality arent needed AT ALL.

I got C+ in 213, but I got scared ****less.

Not even all my practice questions.
Thanks for your help btw.

I'd look into Industrial Experience. They arrange for summer PAID internships AND counts as a credited course. But grades are important as Concordia attaches your Transcript to company applications and will most likely ask you about bad grades during interviews.

Also, fat chance getting an internship to Ubisoft. They run their own school AND they are VERY anal about people leaving the company. I know it's hard to prove you gave away insider secrets but apparently there is a clause in Ubisoft contract that prohibits you from working with any other company for an entire year because they want to avoid people leaking out their software improvements to competing companies.

+100000 there was a Concordia run event called dinner for 8 where you get to meet and have paid dinner with Concordia Alumni IN your field. I got to meet two great guys Paul Di Marco and Antonio Maiorano. They both worked for EA, Paul is still there (and is into programming games for Android) and Antonio is with a Montreal based game company name beHaviour (Formerly called A2M games which lovingly was nestled between Ass 2 Mouth Porn sites on Google warranting the company name change).

Anyways point is, they said a portfolio IS a HUGE plus. Especially if it's a game you made on your own time. I was planning to work on an Android game with some classmates since we got a lot of hands on experience with OpenGL in our Computer Graphics class but my Android website kinda took off, keeping up with Android News and reviews sorta ate up all my time.

I hope to get something done during the sem. I made a Game in that Computer Graphics class based on space invaders but in 3D and with the Android Character in my Avatar as the main character that kills Blackberry and Apple shaped enemies. I'm planning to port it to Android at some point. I can send you the game if you want an idea of what you will do in later semesters. =D

Lineup was a good 45 minutes last monday. I'd say get there as early as possible, or wait for a brutal lineup.

I've already got experience in UDK, and so far our plan is to try to get a game going in second year.

I think at this point i'll just wait for it to die down. I can't see what not having the id will prevent me from doing.
