The Future of Marty Turco...

So as we all know now Corey Crawford has and will be Chicagos #1 Goaltender.

The question comes now what is Turco going to do? We know he only signed a 1 year contract...

Any thoughts on what his next move is?

I don't see him signing or less and being Crawfords back up...

Retirement?

what are your thoughts!

Not in a Hawks uniform, that's all that matters.

He won't be a starter again, so he doesn't have much choice but to sign for back-up type money.

Either way, he won't be back in Chicago.

Amen to that. Seriously though, I think Turco is done.

Is it weird that I think that if Turco can't find a starting job, that he'll go to Detroit if Osgood is done?

He'd be close to home, has history in Michigan and would have a back-up role on a team that would be good to cover his mistakes. If he takes a cheap contract, which I think he will, he would be a decent fit there.

I'm not sure if Detroit fans would like that though...

I think Turco will end up a #2 somewhere like Columbus

They need a mentor for Mason. Someone who can help the kid get back on track to what they thought he would be

Outside of that I dont see much for Turco out there

He's already an analyst on NHL on the Fly. He's much better there than in the crease.

For all the crap he gets from us Hawks fans, I still really appreciate the guy for the obvious role he played in the development of Crawford.
He was a great professional, and never complained once about being a backup all year long after being a starter for his entire career (granted, he played his way into being a backup, but that doesn't take anything away from his good attitude).

From the sounds of it, he and Crawford had a great bond, and he helped CC a ton in his first NHL season this year. I don't want him back, nor do I think he WILL be back... but I appreciate his efforts all the same.

With the Salak signing, Turco definitely won't be manning the crease for the Hawks next season.

A shame too, because he's always been one of my favorites. I really thought that he would shine here.

Wont be back with the hawks now that we have Salak. Safe to say Turco won't be in a blackhawks uniform ever again.

Probably will be back-up for rest of career.

Same here. He kept a great attitude and seemed like he not only got along great with Crow, but with the whole team. I appreciated his time here even if it was only for that positive dent on this team last year.

If it were some other position, I don't think I'd mind having him around for real cheap to continue working with Crow... he might even be able to help him develop his puckhandling game to levels he's never been at before.

That sums up my feelings as well. One last season with a solid team and go out with a bang by taking Hawks to the finals was the dream.

But, having said that, Turco must be watching older goalies like Thomas amd Roloson in this years playoffs and thinking he still has some life left. We'll see, but whatever happens, his attitude has been fantastic, and I wish him all the best.

I wonder if he would sign a league minimum Deal to play in Rockford for 1 year. He would be our #3 - if he can't find a NHL job

If he can't find a job, maybe he should get a job as Waite's assistant? Would be a continued good mentor to Crow, and should be able to help Salak aswell.

He says he loves the city, and that his family loves Chicago. If he can't find work elsewhere, maybe that'd be an option for him.

I don't see him retiring. More likely, he'll under up as the #2 on some other team that could use someone to help mold a younger #1.

Who that might be, I have no clue.

Wherever he ends up, I am excited to see his really loud pads and crazy gargoyle helmet in another color scheme. Man has style!!

Is Salak for sure going to take the backup role? Might he play in the AHL and we still need a cheap backup? I'm not sure. I'm also not sure even if that is the case Turco would sign. I can't wait for the offseason when we start finding out the answers to these things!

Agree with this. He is still a good mentor for a young goalie. He'll find a spot somewhere with the expectation he is to help out a future teams goalie.
