Oh my god.. I come on and see this? I am gleaming right now.

Teams I wanted in Minnesota's division... In my Wildest () dreams:

St. Louis? Check.
Detroit? Check.
Nashville? Check.
Chicago? Check.
Winnipeg? Check.
Columbo? Meh. Maybe they'll be our new Eddy.
Dallas? I will take it.

Yep, it's nice. I also love the fact that less evening games = less late nights for me and our other resident Finns.

I actually opened a Koff for this! Kippis!

Has there been any news about what the NHLPA has said about this?

Yeah I think I'll only miss Eddy...don't have any emotion whatsoever for Vanny, Colly, or Cally.

I also think Conference D is going to be insanely competitive as long as the league is divided up like this.

Posted this to try to cheer Wings fans up

Hey Wild fan here...

A couple of points I want to make...

Yes. We have the Wild have been a boring team through most of their existence as a franchise.

Yes. We did play the trap to a boring and annoying amount of success in years past under Jacques Lemaire.

I'm sure we were excruciatingly boring to play against.

Yes. We were still boring in the years after Lemaire stepped down. Mostly due to us sucking major ***.

This year we are making huge strides in the right direction. Yes. We are still somewhat of a defensive hockey team. (Mostly due to good goaltending and a forwards that are strong defensively.) We play a system similiar to the Penguins. (Primarily forechecking 2-3 guys) This has not turned into a huge amount of goals scored for 3 main reasons.

1. The Wild do not have the amount of offensive talent needed to be a top tier offensive team quite yet.

2. Our first line has not started to produce yet like it should. Realistically Koivu, Seto, and Heatley should all score 25+ goals.

3. Bad luck. We have been getting a lot of great scoring chances, but our guys have been snake bitten. (Bouchard, Seto, Heatley should all have a lot more goals than what they are currently at.)

Also, on a side-note Latendresse's injury has really hurt us in the scoring department.

Things should regress to the mean and they have already started to. We are up to around 20 in scoring in the NHL from I think 28 or 29.

Now I'm not suggesting the Wild are going to be anywhere in the top 10 in scoring, but I think we should continue to improve to that department as our scoring luck evens out. We should finish in the 12-18 range in scoring. Not other-worldly, but not terrible either.

Watching us this year...

You will see a team that forechecks and cycles the puck extremely well creating lots of turnovers. Our 3rd and 4th line have been otherwordly this year. Guys like Brodziak, Clutterbuck, and Nick Johnson are really fun to watch battle in the corners.

You will see a team that never gives up. For example we have won 3-4 straight road games while coming back from 2-0 defecits. Not exactly boring...

I think we have suprised a lot of people watching, by the amount of chances/odd man-rushes/and exciting play that we have exhibited this year. Now, to the normal, casual hockey fangoals are the be all end of exciting play for the *most*...that exciting play hasn't led to goals-yet-for the Wild. So, I understand how that might deter some of you fans.

My real point to this thread is the future since we will be in your division...

The Wild are primed to be injected with a ridiculous amount of talent in the next 2-3 years. If you look at our prospect pool we have probably 10+ guys averaging 1 point or more a game.
http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=991459 (Close to recently updated prospect stats)
Mikael Granlund
Zack Phillips
Jason Zucker
Charlie Coyle
Johan Laarson
Brett Bulmer
Erik Haula
Casey Wellman (starting to put things together)
Mario Lucia (awhile away)

All of these guys (all forwards) minus Lucia will be competing for spots on our NHL/AHL roster next year. (AHL if they don't make the NHL roster)

Combine that with one of the best 3rd lines in the leauge in Brodziak/Clutterbuck/Johnson and combine that young talent with some ok players in Koivu, Heatley, Setoguchi (I know wings fans hate him), Bouchard, Latendresse, and Cullen. (Really nifty player for us so far this year.) And we have ourselves a major logjam.

We have 3-4 WJC captains on that list too.

Just trying to ease your fears, but the Wild aren't/won't be boring for much longer.

Any feedback would be nice because I spent a long time typing this.

Cheers to the new division. Chi/Det/STL/MN at the very least should all be fun to watch in the future.

Ah, yes, Conference D, or as NBC likes to call it, "The National Hockey League."

Aren't we?

Seriously though, I don't think we should "suck up" either. Especially to Detroit. I have a feeling they're going to become our new Edmonton.

Ehh naw. Not suck up. Just to yell at them for their misconceptions about how boring we are.

Wings fan here. Doubt we voted against it.

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index....y_excited.html

"It's a lot better than the situation we had,'' Holland said. Said Red Wings senior vice president Jimmy Devellano: "I'm so happy. It's a dream come true for the Detroit Red Wings.'' He added, "As far as us going East, that never was a big issue. Only that the schedule would have been better for us.''

My excitement will go down soon enough and build with vengeful hate soon enough. I am already getting the same arrogance feeling coming from some Red Wings fans just like some of Canucks fans. The hate will be flowing soon enough.

Surprised the Detroit execs like it that much. Guess their East requests were overblown. Good for them too then.

GUYS, DON'T WORRY.

At first glance, Crosby approves of realignment plan.

What a joke.

Don't worry. I'm sure Winnipeg will bare the brunt of the "boring team" rants from most teams in this new division, especially being the only Canadian team in there. But whatever, I'm happy with what is now coming to be!

The two Florida teams are fine with it - they get extra revenue from all the Canadian games and are with each other. One of the issues with the old SE division, especially since Atlanta left is how isolated those teams are and that there aren't many rivalries.
