I'm excited for this! I seem to enjoy the games against the Blues, Preds, and Hawks much more than those against the Oilers and Flames. I think it'll make for a much more engaging schedule overall.
As long as Yeo is the coach getting harder teams to beat is bad
Yeo will only play more defensive and that means even less goals scored
More OT and SO games
I doubt he will be the coach for several years to come so in the end this will benefit wild as the team have to develop their game

That explains why we scored 4 goals against Vancouver and 3 against Chicago....

Playoffs as of today's standings if realignment had already taken place....
West
#1 Chicago vs #4 Phoenix (2nd Wild Card)
#2 St.Louis vs #3 Minnesota (Beats out Winnipeg due to lower GP currently) - Series would be a good one, due to my homerness I'm just calling it a loss to not look like a homer...
#1 Anaheim vs #4 Winnipeg (1st Wild Card)
#2 Los Angeles vs #3 Vancouver (loses #2 seed due to lower ROW)
#1 Chicago vs #2 St.Louis
#1 Anaheim vs #2 Los Angeles
#1 Chicago vs #2 Los Angeles
East
#1 Montreal vs #4 Detroit (2nd Wild Card)
#2 Boston vs #3 Ottawa
#1 Pittsburgh vs #4 Toronto (1st Wild Card)
#2 Carolina vs #3 New Jersey
Pffft! No need... I made predictions of my own based on the standings as of now!
The point is, it shows the potential of the format...
Minnesota vs St.Louis... already love the idea of that matchup over and over... and then if you make it past that... Minnesota vs Chicago? Gotta love it!
Anaheim and Los Angeles becoming a crosstown rival like they SHOULD be?! It's about damn time!

HATE this wildcard business -- especially when it's still 4 teams per division. No sense sending Winny to the Pacific and importing Phoenix.
Even in situations where a division might get a 5th team in, how big of a travesty would it be if a 5th place team got shut out of the playoffs?
How do people feel about the 'Midwest' name? There are arguably FOUR markets that wouldn't associate their city with that regional moniker (WPG, DEN, NAS, maybe DAL).
When I think of the heart of the Midwest, I think Iowa-Illinois-Indiana. Not exactly hockey heavyweights, which kind of makes the title somewhat derogatory for the name of a hockey division (not quite as bad as the 'Southeast')
I would have preferred Norris (tough beans Dallas and Nashville). Central probably would have been the best all-inclusive title. The East could have taken 'Northeast' and 'Atlantic'.
I like realignment on a whole, will miss Detroit though and not sure i'm crazy about new playoff format. Have to wait and see how it plays out next year before accurately judging myself.

The new - return to the old - playoff format is the best part about the change IMO! Having seen the intense hate division playoffs breed... this is going to jump start some big-time rivalries fast!
It's nice to get into a division in which most of the opponenets are actually glad to welcome you as a known potential heated rival! So not like what the NW division was for this franchise.
Chicago, St. Louis and Winnipeg. At least IMO. There'll be lingering bad blood with Nashville and Dallas to an extent.. But CHI, STL and WPG make the most sense.
We used to have a great rivalry with Chicago during the North Star days, as it was a easy drive between the citis.
I think Winnipeg will be a big rivalry as well because it is close, and because we already don't like them due to Bogasian's cheap shot on PMB.
But all the teams we could have good beefs with.
Colorado -playoff battle history
Nashville - They cursed us with Zidlicky, and something about we stole a D-man of theirs.
Dallas - former North Stars, enuf said
St. Louis - we always had a good rivalry with the Blues back in the Norris days, and our games the last few years always seem to be heated; they have dbag Backes as their Captain, so that is a start.
