indeed. i don't think that a world reeling with tsunami devastation, a destabilized middle east and scandal in the highest levels of international monetary policy can handle a Third Hfboards Caps Coaching Thread. please, mrwarden. listen to the man... use your mod powers to fire bruce boudreau (he's fat).

Ted! Be a true philanthropist and bring joy to us as Cap fans: Fire McPhee and Boudreau! They do not have the goods, bro!

I screamed for you to hire Yzerman last Spring. I don't know who is available this time. But believe me there are better people ready to change the Caps into a Cup winner.

Anyone else watching these games and getting angrier and angrier thinking about our waste of talent? Like our rag tag pond hockey is just reemphasized. Damn you GMGM. Much as I appreciate your talent evaluation, your unfounded devotion to BB has made the thought of firing you not so repulsive to me any more.

Who knew Bruce was the glue all along

Yeah if George never replaces Bruce yet we never get out of the second round, George needs to go more than Bruce. Will he get 9 lives like Bryan Murray?

Whats the over under of number of years he gets in the plan? 4.5 and I am taking the over.

Lol, if Boston wins then GMGM says "see, a chubby bald guy can make it to the SCF." If Tampa wins "Well we did loose to the Eastern Conference champions." Though in all seriousness I think he'll look at Alain Vigneault as proof that patience with a head coach can pay dividends which I hope is true if he does decide to keep BB.

Except that Vigneault made it to the 2nd round with Vancouver every season. In a tougher conference. BB has taken post season failure to new depths.

I always liked Bykov the player but not so much the coach but I don't think he had nearly as much say in picking his teams as he would have liked so...

Yes. I don't feel like, dump it into the opposite corner while guys are moving across the blueline already chasing it, support the puck carrier up ice by backing him up instead of always going wide, dump the puck if you have no support and are surrounded, and try to cycle the puck along the boards until someone gains inside position on the defense are complicated concepts. Tampa is a good team but their defense is not that good. Washington has more on paper and they got swept. It is just frustrating to see the same damn turnovers and stupid plays after four years. Watch the conference finals and few to none guys turn over the puck at the opposition's blueline while trying to beat three defensive players. The Caps still did this all the time.

Give Mike Babcock 3 times what he makes in Detroit, problem solved.

What if we then found out it was the players?

Well Babcock did take Anaheim to the finals too, but then I think Disco was on that roster...who was really coaching the team? And how did they lose??

I don't get it. Why is GMGM keeping us in limbo? If Bruce is his guy then come out and make it official.

I expect him[Boudreau] to be back. He's a good coach. There is no difference between a playoff coach and a regular season coach. Your either a good coach or you're not and he's a good coach.
That's as definitive as he'll get. Come to grips with it, BB is coming back.

Still at some point he has to come out and say BB will be the head coach of the Capitals in 2011. I'd rather not have hope that BB will be replaced if all he's going to do is wait a month or two just to say for sure that he's coming back, not this "well I expect him to be back" crap. That leaves the door to far open for my taste.

Though I agree that he's most likely coming back. My gripe is more along the lines of, oh how you say, closure.

I see no public declaration forthcoming...

Public fervor has died down....come back next year, be a year older, still selling out the building, hoping to catch a spark some postseason....

You have to understand: McPhee is clueless.

You have the good common sense to trust your nose. You caught a whiff of the stink and realize it's time to take the trash out. McPhee can't smell or else he likes the smell of filth. In any case, he's unconcerned about the rubbish piling up around him. He's used to it now and so are most Caps fans.
